Whats up XJ Peoples!

Jeremy from Erie, PA here.

Have my eye on a 99 XJ, hoping to leave the stealership victorious. Trading in the wife's '98 CR-V, which I inherited after I traded in my Jeep for a Pilot.

My old Jeep. It was more capable than people give it credit for, you just had to know how to drive it. Never got it stuck once, and I pushed it.

I loves me a good forum, and this looks like a decent spot to hang my hat.

Hey Jeremy, welcome to xjtalk! Hope ya get that sweet looking jeep! Got a few members here with a patriot in the family. I'm sure you'll be happy with the xj over the patriot. Lots more aftermarket support and a better platform for wheeling. What's your plans for it? Come on, i know you've had ideas running through your head! :D

Thanks for the welcome!

The XJ has 128K on the clock and spent the 1st half of it's life in Florida, so the Body and frame are largely rust-free :D.

My plans for the immediate future are to add vent visors, recovery hooks, a class III hitch, my ham radio, an inverter, STICKERS(wife has a cricut) and fix the issues I inherited; Faulty wiper switch, bad front speakers, bad O2 sensor and a leaky valve cover gasket. I have already replaced the head unit with a media receiver that I had sitting around.

The rubber(General Grabber HTS) is brand new and although they are "highway" tires, I've run them before on my '02 Durango and they will be good enough for my purposes right now... That being said, I fully intend on adding a modest suspension lift and some aggressive tires on soft-8s.

I do spend quite a bit of time off the pavement on cell-site access roads, I have a company truck but I was recently promoted and it won't be long before the truck goes bye bye. I would have rather picked up a YJ, but we don't want more than one car payment, so I spent what I could justify and traded in the '98 rattle trap(CR-V) with almost 200K on it.

How did I find yinz? The googles, of course.

Here's a better picture, although it's still dreary as hell outside.

Very nice! Looks about like showroom condition, and with 128k its just breaking in.

I like the plan, always best to get things fixed up before modding so you have a good, safe base to build off of.

If you need help feel free to ask. We do our best to help keep ya on the road... or off! :D

I am pleased with my purchase.

I love to make tutorials, I realize that just about everything possible has been done and documented for the XJ, but I like to do it anyways. Technical writing is a part of my job that I really enjoy, so I do it for fun.

Although, I didn't see a tutorial for installing a ham radio on here and I'm throwing in a remote head dual band radio, so it will likely end up somewhere.

Here's the one I wrote for my riot.
