How difficult is it to swap clusters in a 95 XJ 2-Door? I want to go from the speedo/fuel and idiot light cluster to a full cluster with tach and needles for small gauges.... Is the wiring harness the same? or am I looking at a massive investment in time and parts to make it happen?

I've read that with the pre-97 models the cluster just plugs in but you will need to replace a lot of your sensors to make it work correctly. Also the odometer will read whatever the vehicle it came out of had unless you get it reset to your reading. I'm sure someone else will be along shortly with actual experience with this.

Its well worth the work, which isn't too bad. A few screws and two connectors get the cluster out and put back in the "new" full gauge cluster. The cluster however has to come from a '91-'96 xj. '97+ were a different style and '90- had mechanical speedometers.

And yes, sensors have to be replaced to work with the gauges. But it is just the oil pressure and coolant temp sensors. On the model you have the temp sensor is on the rear of the cylinder head on the drivers side. And when ordering/purchasing those, be sure to get ones made to work with gauges. Ones made for lights will not work correctly.

The time and money is nothing compared to knowing the vitals of your jeep.
