So I'm gonna get a new computer for my XJ if it does indeed need replacing. So, the million dollar question.....Reman or Used? If so, why? Pros? Cons? Advice, tips, tricks, etc? Lay it on me.

I bought a reman once. It didn't work right. Turns out it had a brown spot on the circuit board. I bought another off ebay I am still using.

So would you suggest getting a used one?

Atleast you know a used one has worked before. A new/reman hasnt.

Well I'm kinda on the fence about it because if I get a reman, sure it may work BUT the used one might as well. Unfortunately you never know which one was built better. I am unsure of what to do with this.

Dont know about your junkyards, but the ones here have a 30 day warranty. If yours are the same, even if the one you get doesnt work, sooner or later youll find one that does. However the first one should work cause it really isnt a item that wears out.

Well it IS 21 years old after all lol and the voltage regulator is the only reason I need a new PCM/ECU. Chrysler had this wonderful idea to make the computers transistorized instead of the alternator -_- thanks Chrysler. I suppose it's better to just buy a used one from my PnP (30 day warranty or I can buy a better warranty from them) for 50 bucks instead of a brand new one that may work just as well for almost 300 bucks.

Well with a ecm you only need a 1 day warranty. It either works or it don't.

I bought a used one from e-bay with a 90 day warranty...9 years ago. Still working fine.
