There two questions you need to answer first. What is your intended use and how much do you want to spend?

I liked the 4.5 lift from Rough Country. I bought mine some 7(?) years ago so I believe some of it may have changed.

It's a complete kit, so you don't need anything else.

Things that may not be the best are they fixed lower control arms. I think they're okay but adjustables are better in the long run. With the included 1" transfer case drop you probably won't have any vibration issues.

With that said with the exception of the shocks (and just 2 of them) I've replaced everything from that kit. Not because I had to just upgrades.

It is my daily driver with trips out to the woods on the weekends. No rocks.. I want the 33 mud terrain km2. I don't want to spend over 1800. I was looking at the RC long arm kit. Would I have to change my gears? This will be my first lift. Just want to get some good advise from you guys!

I run the Rubicon Express Long Arm with 4.5" coils and full RE leaf packs. I have no rub issues with 31s and only minor trimming needed to run 33s. IMO, the XJ auto with 3:55 gears will turn 33s without major issues, although I stayed with 31s because I like the lower "gearing" they provide. The long arm kit was probably the single best investment I've ever made into my XJ, as it performs very well on-highway (better than stock!) and is an articulating beast offroad. I paid right at $1400 to do this upgrade and I'm very happy with all of it. Do your homework, pays your money and have some FUN! :D

What issues would happen? I've heard a lot of good things with the RC 4.5 lift but I always have my doubts..

I want something reliable that won't brake in a year or two.

Get a Clayton's kit & call it done.

RC makes a decent entry level kit. It is all there. But if you use it hard, it will start letting you down. They are affordable but the shocks that come with it are valved too stiff for trail use. Also all the metal is a little thin for rough use. It is one of those things where you get what you pay for. For entry level, Zone has a better kit with better shocks. If you have fabrication skills then you can have something bomb proof for about the same money

My rc lift has been wheeled hard the last 4yrs. Only problem I have had is the crappy shocks and the adjustable trackbar

I'm not going to go extreme. It's my daily driver. I need it to last haha
