View Full Version : Intermittent CEL code 34
I have this intermittent CEL code 34 and rough start issue.I read some where to check speed control unit(don't know where that is)the cruise control(which i don't have)and some kind of actuator under the passenger fender(which i didn't find) NEED SOME HELP HERE PLEASE.

It is true that code 34 can be a speed control code, but also an EGR valve code. A malfunction there would cause a change in idle. You might need to replace that, or make sure the wiring is working correctly
It's a 1994 xj,where is the EGR located

It's a 1994 xj,where is the EGR located
I will check that in the daylight
funny you mentioned that.Been working under the hood at night which is the only time i have these days.found it this afternoon before the sun went down LOL. How do i test the functionality of the EGR

Thanks, I was just getting ready to do that since the sun is going down soon :D
I think i work better at night,just got back in from poking around at the jeep.What i thought was the EGR is actually the TPS. So where the hell is the EGR

It is under the intake directly under the throttle body
the only thing i see is a vacc hose to the booster, directly under the TB is the exhaust manifold.Did i mentioned it's a 4.0 :bang:

I'm almost wondering if the speed sensor might have something to do with it
