that was a couple hours more than I had planned!
and now she's got her rear up in the air....

so I'm hoping it settles down a bit soon... cause WoW that RE leaf spring set added aLOT

but the PITA was that the little eyelett on the new springs is like a milimerter toooooo big for the hole on the axle pitch!
WtF.

tomorrow i'm going to swap the front brake lines and the 2" spacers...
...will post a couple pics then

OK 2 questions...
shackel bolts (on an '89) torque to 105 lbs.
UBolt nuts to 52 lbs....

is the from of the lpring also 105 lbs?

and I just noticed that the book says to "before installing new shocks, purge them of air?"
...fully extend turn over and then compress...
is this really necessary?
...and what if I didnt use stock style shocks?
do I need to pull ~ rinse and repeat?

Lower Nut . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 62 N·m (46 ft. lbs.)
Stabilizer Bar
Clamp Bolt . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 54 N·m (40 ft. lbs.)
Link Upper Bolt . . . . . . . . . . . . 12 N·m (9 ft. lbs.)
Link Lower Nut . . . . . . . . . . . 74 N·m (55 ft. lbs.)
Spring
U-Bolt Nut . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 70 N·m (52 ft. lbs.)
Front Pivot Bolt . . . . . . . . . 156 N·m (115 ft. lbs.)

Some styles of shocks need to be fully compressed first. My Monroes are that way. But they eventually get the gasses out of there if you drive

OK... they were new /strapped full compressed when I opened... I gotta drive some medium miles and re torque.

@ Carves = thanks... I didn't torque enough when I finished ... will hit it when I do the front tomorrow

Better get those fast. Stuff like that lasts about 5 minutes

I like to see other junk yard builds, most of mine is form the junk yard. That's the great thing about cheap Cherokees :)

So, now I just need to wait for another set of shims...
ACTUAL 2* would be nice.

the 1's they sent make it drivable, but there's a definite vib. if you know what I mean.

pinion and tcase are perfectly parallel and I can definitely feel the difference.
...had a retiree service middle of the day so I only did the shims.
but there is more of a bad bearing feel and sound
so swapping out the u-joints tomorrow.

also gonna swap the front axle u-joints and left hub

Dang It!
....
Have another service ~ and didn't get started till late.
SO, JUST THE U-JOINTS on the rear shaft.
And the 3 jaw puller idea = no go!

Found the culprit though:
4053

4054

Had to go old school and use a hammer and a block to pound out the old and in the new!
PITA!

Gonna play hookie on Tue or Wed and try to get it finished before I drive the 550+ round trip to drill this weekend.

** Extra thanks to 4.3LXJ for the u-joint call. I'd still be trying to figure out the vib!

That is what we are here for

it was smooth after swapping the shim to the right °, but still shook
but today on the way to a dry garage... WOW!

...that wouldn't have damaged the TCase output baring, would it?

also ~ the jeep guy at the parts store was saying pretty much anytime you have a lot of miles on the u-joint and then change the output angle, you will need to do the u-joints shortly after...

I don't think you didn't damage anything. What happens with the U joints is that if they are marginal, the lift and increased angle will make it appear worse
