I've heard of people making a "T" fitting in one of the heater hoses. That may work for you.

Youll have to get an adpater for a heater hose or radiator hose. None of the places on the block are big enough or deep enough for the probe on a mechanical temp guage. Something like this: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/atm-2283?seid=srese1&gclid=CJ6cr_Dz2roCFfFj7AodODQAyw

I'm curious as to why you want to install a mechanical temp gauge. I'm a noob and a blundering idiot and just wondering.

I know why I did. Personally I trust the accuracy of a good quality mechanical temp gauge than I do the stock electrical gauge. Same with oil pressure.

I live in a fairly warm climate ,NM,and I would like to monitor how warm the engine is getting. The lil light coming on and telling me I'm ready to melt a piston while 40 mi . out in the desert isn't appealing,,lolol.

Thanx for the tip about teeing the heater hose,,,that'll most likely be my course of action.

From the sound of it you just have the "idiot lights" style gauge cluster. In case you didn't know it you can't swap the cluster for the full gauge style cluster. Its not hard and only requires you to also change the temp and oil pressure sending units.
