I've kicked this idea around for a bit. The main issue is No room for a intercooler. So that mean small turbo and low boost (3-5psi). You will need to make a custom exhaust manifold to adapt you turbo of choice. I was thinking a super 16 or super 20g (Mitsubishi t3 flange style) I still need to run the number (they may be still too small). Depending on the year of your jeep you may need to run a fuel return line , adapt rrfpr, a map clamp, at least to keep the ecu happy. If you get serious buy the Turboing bible

I have messed with turbos a little. If you want JY stuff, you will need two of the t3s. Turbos are sized by amount of exhaust flow. So for instance, if you use a turbo off a 2L it will hit boost very quickly, which you might want, but will spin too fast at higher RPMs. There is a limit to how fast those can turn. So basically you would need to run each one off the splits in the header. You would probably be able to run 7 psi, but only on premium and with an intercooler. As mat mentioned, not much room. The S10 Syclone engine had a water intercooler hooked to the radiator and a separate water pump that turned on under boost.

If you pull this off....you will probably have one of the most visited and stickied write ups on the web.... I anxiously await the completion of this......

Lol, red Jeeps don't need turbos.... they're unbeatable already! My $50/month Jeep fund has better uses anyways ;) AND it's been depleted until next month

How about a super charger instead?

sorry man it's not going to happen anytime soon it was just an idea that someone threw at me I was originally going to do a junkyard supercharger build up which I still would like to do more than a turbo build.

I vote for a roots blower myself. An Eaton 62 would work just nicely. Or a 5.3L Vortec and blower.

what is the supercharger he's running because that would be the easiest way for me to supercharge mine.

The blower is from a Cougar XR7. Its just a M90 blower. It doesn't have to be from a Cougar. Like what Steve stated, you can or should I say, if you can find the the blower from a buick. You can essentially do the same thing. Relocate the battery inside the cabin. You'll need better fuel injectors and I'm not sure what electronics one would need. Wires are not my specialty.
I'm not sure if one would need better rods, pistons, & rings for such low boost. But I would think doing a port polish and a mild cam would only help it breath better.

Not sure, been doing some googling and don't know what the r.p.a. is he speaks of in his description... "A BASIC SUPERCHARGER KIT AT R.P.A. FOR THE CHEROKEE 4.0L OR A FEW OTHER MODELS. BUT THIS IS FIRST SETUP ON THIS PLATFORM, NEED TO MAKE A FEW MODIFICATIONS STILL. STAY TUNED !!!"

These are centrifugal superchargers. I think they suck. When I had one on my BMW M3. Power wasn't noticeable until you hit close to redline. Seems like a turbo would be more ideal with more options for upgrades. Whereas a roots SC, such as the Eaton, performs throughout the RPM range.

I would stay away from a supercharger they take 70% of the engine's usable power before they produce power. As far as a turbo its 30% of the waste (exhaust gas) but that's my 2 cents
