I bought this for my birthday in July:
http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd11/firemanray21/vette_zpse04adac3.jpg (http://s223.photobucket.com/user/firemanray21/media/vette_zpse04adac3.jpg.html)

I have missed the one like it I sold 6 years ago so bad I thought I wanted another one. Time changes people. I have no place to enjoy a 150 m.p.h. 2 seat car. Having come to that conclusion I found this on CL the other day:
http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd11/firemanray21/RockKrawler_zps04f87cfb.jpg (http://s223.photobucket.com/user/firemanray21/media/RockKrawler_zps04f87cfb.jpg.html)

There is a possibility I may trade for it. A "built" street legal rock crawler! Here is a build list on it:
Build Specs:

-3.9 ltr. fuel injected V-8 with Headman headers, aftermarket catalytic converters, Flow Master muffler. Automatic transmission.
-Optima battery
-Warn 9.5 ti winch with synthetic line
-Hella off road lights
-LT230 transfer case from Discovery with long spline output shaft.
-Rebuilt Discovery series 2 double cardon front driveshaft
-Custom built double cardon 1310 u-joint rear drive shift with ΒΌ" wall dom tubing
-Custom fabricated Ford 9" disc brake rear end with 35 spline Moser axle shafts, Detroit locker, Strange nodular housing, 4.75 to 1 Richmond ring and pinion gears. Spidertrax housing (3/8" tube wall thickness) . 5 on 5 bolt pattern with custom made wheel adapters to fit Rover bolt pattern of 5 on 6.5. Summit racing brake proportioning valve.
-Front axle has 4.75 reverse cut gears with an ARB air locker assembled by Great Basin Rovers. Axle shafts and cv joints are from Rovertracks (made by Longfield) with 30/24 spline inner axle shafts. Great Basin HD drive flanges at the wheels.
-5 inch Rovertym springs all around. Rovertym johnny joint rear links. Front radius arms custom made. Bilstein 7100 remote reservoir short body shocks- 12" in front, 14" in rear
-PSC Motorsports High performance steering pump and hydraulic ram assist at the pitman arm. Brand new oem steering box from dealer. Heavy duty Rovertracks drag link. Heavy duty Rovertym track bar moved to the front made possible by a RH drive swivel housing.
- Custom made 3/8" steel belly pan. Custom made front bumper and skid plate. LED tail lights.
-New oil cooler and tranny lines.
-Uniden 2 way radio
-Gas tank relocated.
-15x10 Trailready beadlock wheels with 37/12.5/15 Goodyear MT/R's
-1.5" diameter .120" wall HREW round steel tube roll cage and front bumper.
-Rear has been bobbed by about a foot.
-Has engine driven compressor for airing up tires.
Here's a video of it in action:
1989 Range Rover - YouTube
The cost of his build exceeds what I have in my car so dollars aren't the deciding factor. OPINIONS!?!

Hey all I have is my XJ, but I'll throw in what I think. Personally I would sell it. Get something stock and make the changes to it over time, or if you know what you want, order a bunch of stuff and build it quickly.

I just like the idea of having something that I thought about bought or made, installed and then had something that I was a part of not something that someone else built.

That may be part of the issue with the 'vette, it's finished, needs nothing but a driver. Don't get me wrong I love to drive it, sex on wheels, but it lacks something.

I personally wouldn't want to deal with the headache involved with owning a Rover.

If you are a Rover guy and know what you are getting into, then sure. From a practical standpoint , building off a Rover is a nightmare unless you are a died in the wool Rover fan, in which case it's still not practical but you are nutty enough to enjoy dealing with a problematic vehicle that's expensive to fix.

... What about the cool looking range rover .. ??? ... :sad0147:

The rover V8 did have a few "issues" to take into account ...

Mostly caused by owners tho, IMHO ... unless it was coz GM screwed up the design originally :D

Well it happened!!!!! 4 months later I decided to part with my beloved 'vette. Greg brought the monster to my shop this morning and hauled the 'vette away. I decided not to trade on the wrangler unlimited a couple of weeks ago, I just don't want another payment.

I've named it YOLO, you only live once, my son and I are going to have some fun while he's still here at home.
