So i spent my birthday (the 19th,where are my presents?) dicking with the a/c again! Last week i evaced the system and refilled as per my gauges and underhood stickers. 2 days later it was low and cycling again so i got a can of leak dye with freon and drove it around. I dug out my old black light from the hippy days and saw no green except on my rag. I should be celebrating with glitter and baloons but i'm in the drive battling the elements and insects. let it set until tonight and crawled in out under all over again and its cycling again, the wife is upside down in the pass seat under the dash(boob shot) and we see nothing anywhere. So that means that gremlins are carefully stealing my freon and probably selling it to the guy down the road i hate (he's a dipshit). I'd hate to have to kill a gremlin but if forced to i will do what i have to do. Advice on what to do is needed at this point. help. please help. you could spare a life tonight. won't you help.

More than likely it is in the evaporator core, the one thing you cannot see

I suppose that it's behind the glove box?

Yup, that is the one

And i suppose that its difficult to change?

Yes, you have to pull the dash. So it is one you want to be sure about before attempting to do it.

Looking up from underneath and pulling carpet i see nothing. Should i pull the glove box and poke around or is there diff way to go about this.

To get it out, you have to take the whole dash loose and raise it up so you can pull the whole blower housing out. Takes a couple of hours. Not the best design for repair

I feel for ya. Make sure that is where it is leaking first

I wonder is there a plastic housing or something that say i could drill a small hole that can be resealed so i can stick a wire into or probe for dye?

You could try that, but the first place to check that is the drain tube. See if your light picks up any dye in the tube

You know how heater cores can leak onto the floor, I'm thinking the same principal. Maybe heat up a drill bit and just push through the plastic? with the added oil i put in when i changed the comp o ring and the dye, surely something would come out or be detected.

If you do that in the bottom, the condensate from the evap coil will drip on the floor and make your carpet wet when you get it fixed

Hey super glue on a sheet metal screw will seal anything! By that token if it was leaking there wouldn't the drain tube show something with the normal condensation? I saw it dripping but only water.

See this is crappy timing because i talked mama into buying me a triple fan setup for my late birthday present. I can order a FFD triple fan on ebay orthe Dirtbound version. I'm on his facebook page and he has yet to post a new price for the spal set up.

Not really. There is some stop leak you can try. I would do that first.

Have you checked the condenser in front of the radiator? It can hide leaks fairly well up in there. Oh, and the expansion valve on the firewall. Although that one is easier. Hope its not the evap core for ya. Just a pain but overall not really that difficult.

Sent via messenger pigeon - i talk, he types.

I haven't taken the grill off yet but i waved the light around in front and i can see the alum line in front of the battery and still see nothing, crawled underneath and see nothing. I wonder if there would be harm to add another can of dye and freon. and still see nothing from the drain tube. Could a small amount of water be put through the drain tube like a backwash?

No water. It forms an acid in there and is not good for the components. Use some more dye and make sure the light is strong enough

I'm Gonna make it bleed GREEN! Man if i had to take the dash out it would be neat to just build a new dash like in desert trucks but with the luxuries

bad luck

You might want to check the pros and cons of adding stop leak to an a/c system, some professional shops won't work on a system that has had stop leak added to it. I guess it can screw up their equipment. I won't use it either, just a personal thing.
