My 2000 Cherokee when starting up the airbag comes on for a couple seconds,
and goes out and all seems to be fine. However if starting up and the light doesn't go out I don't have power to the windows the ac or heater fan doesn't work or there is no power to radio. One day when it did this I noticed I could turn the ignition just a little and it would click and come on.Please help if have any ideas what is going on.

My first thought is the clock spring... not a cheap part from the dealer either. However, there could be a short some where in the cpu as well

It sounds like a bad ignition switch to me.

x2 on the bad ignition switch you said the halo was replaced that is for the reading of the chip in the head of the key. never herd of that affecting the ac or heater. But if it is fix and working good.

I believe that model has a body control module. You might check that first. The airbag and associated light is controlled by that as I think the windows too. First thing to check is grounds to it

Still having this ignition problem on the 2000 xj Cherokee here's what's going on this far.when turning the key in the ignition the engine starts up( at this point if the airbag stays on in the instrument panel there is no power to windows no air cond., no radio .So mechanic put in a new ignition switch (which this is the second one because he thought the first was bad. so after the second switch drove jeep about 100 miles since this new switch has been put in and today after driving it turned it off and started it back up acted like it had a miss in the engine turned it off back on and all seems to be fine

Anyone check power to the automatic shut down relay. That might not be the entire issue here, but indicative of a bad connection to other relays

no not at this time. What is really weird about all this is we thought it was fixed until today after starting the jeep up I noticed that the windows ,air cond, radio was not working and all I have to do is turn the key switch back just a little and all is working.I have heard a lot of people talk about the clock spring,at this time I not so sure the ignition was bad since this is the second one.

Yes, that is a common issue with those. But I am unfamiliar with all the things it affects

When was the last time you changed plugs? My son's 98 TJ does stuff like that. If we run premium in it it straightens out

You have a very interesting issue... could be something big causing all this, like a power distribution center, fuse box, or just some short somewhere or bad ground that is giving all these symptoms...
