I've noticed every once in a while my right front caliper will start to stick. I pulled everything apart and noticed this little notch worn into the bottom brake pad ledge(see pic). I'm wondering what might cause this and what can I do to fix it? I believe I remember reading someone dealing with this (I think it was msmoorenburg?) and he fixed it by filling the notch by welding and grinding it down flush. Is this the only way to fix this besides replacing the whole thing? I'm saving up for a welder but am still short on funds. I was thinking maybe a dab of jbweld fully cured and filed flush would do the job but I'm not sure if this would be my best option. Any information you guys could give me would be greatly appreciated.

I don't think JB weld would hold up. Welding or replacement I think are your only options

I welded mine and ground down. My friend get thin steel plate from rear of old brake pad of another car and formed like support edge (like [ ) put over, he said problem cured but I am not sure how long it will last there

I don't know that JB weld would hold up there for too long, but you could always give it a whirl while you save up a bit more for a welder adn see if it will hold or at least how long it'll hold... all else fails you feel the brake stick again, pull the tire off and see if it is still there... figure it's not hard to pull those parts apart if it doesn't work...

Thanks for the advice. I think I'll call around to some professional welders in my area and see how much they might charge for a small job like this. I have a 800 mile trip coming up and would hate to get stranded because i took the easy, cheap way out. Is this just something that happens over time or is this a result of some abuse by the previous owner?
