I'm asking what the gauge of sheet metal is on our XJ's would be?
I traded a few cases of ammo for a Lincoln electric (A/C only & stick).
One of the projects I'd like to attempt is cutting out my rocker panels and replacing them w 2x6" 3/16" box.
From my understanding, mig would be best, but guess who can't afford a welder or a fabricator to do the work for me? Even if I did all the prep work for the welding. I just don't have $90 an hr to pay a fella.
I want to practice my arse off before molesting my jeep w no skills. I've got 50lbs of 6011 1/8 rod. The welder is commonly referred to as the tumb stone or buzz box. The rod has been stored properly and not very old (6 months).
I figure if I pick "X" gauge sheet metal & 3/16 steel. I'll just practice enough.
