Just how accurate is the scangauge? Today i switched modes and went to mpg and miraculously at 55mph i was getting 29 mpg! I did all the corrections for tire size and it must be a miracle! How can this be? Has technology failed me?

You probably were at that moment in time, but you have to remember you didn't measure start up, idle, fuel usage as you accelerated to 55 mph. mpg is an average off all the things you do from engine start to shutoff.

Next time start the engine, turn on the scan tool, then monitor your mpg, I think you'll get a more realistic mpg average.
