Maybe even consider a hybrid cage? Not the Toyota Prius kinda hybrid. But where you tie in a internal with an exo cage. There are some cool philosiphies out there in regards to this ideology. Some very well executed. TD2 tube bender w a die. Even the cheapo harbor freight bender will work. All of which are relatively cheap (dare I say that word). Welding skills come in handy.
It's not a cheap adventure though. Without tools I have priced it out to be $1500 with margin for error. So maybe throw on an extra $500 for operator error and practice.
