Anybody know if I can pull the glovebox without pulling the dash?
I know the trim down the passenger side of the dash and under the glove box comes out with 3 or 4 screws.
But didn't get to pulling anymore than that.
I want to run a 10AWG wire off the bat. not through the fuse box... To run the sterio / 2 CIG. lighters / and maybe an accessory or 2...
And I thought that'd be a good access point

You may have your reasons for not doing it this way but I went through just below the reservoir tray in the engine compartment. That places the wires high enough under the dash they aren't visible from inside.

I used a collar on my drill bit when going through the firewall, there's some pretty important stuff on the other side of that and I didn't want to drill holes in it. Also, make sure you use a grommet in the hole to prevent chaffing and leaks and finally, make sure you fuse the link on the engine side of the firewall.

I'm not really sure about the pre-97 Jeeps, but I know that I can on my 97. Can you get enough access to fish wires through the openings when the glove box is open?

That's where I want to go with 'em...
So is it easy to pull the glove box ~ so I can position them easily on that side?

I didn't pull the glove box and never have, so I can't answer that question. I believe it's part of that whole molded dash panel and would be not only difficult to remove but fragile on our '89s. I try to disassemble my dash as little as possible because every time I touch it, no matter how careful I am, something breaks.

So when you fed the wires through...
Did you just keep pushing till they came out?
...that's the only reason I was thinking of pulling it.

That's what I did. I taped a zip tie to the wires with electrical tape and kept feeding through until I could get a hold on them. I did this for my A-Pillar light wiring

At the time I did this, I had the passenger seat out which allowed me to lay on the floor with my head under the passenger side dash. From there I could see the wires poking through the firewall next to the AC components.

I didn't have a stepper drill at the time (or couldn't find it) but that would be a better option for drilling the firewall and protecting the fragile bits on the other side.
