Hey guys!,

Ive been reading a lot but this is my first post. I have a "new to me" manual 2000 cherokee 2.5 and I believe my motor mounts are shot. When driving any time I let off the gas or get on the gas there is an abrupt jerk in the vehicle. I can feel a rip in the rubber of the mounts too. Other than that everything seems normal.

However, when I looked into replacing them mine did not look like any other oem motor mounts Ive seen for XJs. Here they are. They look welded over the original bracket.

I really don't want to have to take this to a shop. Any ideas?

I haven't looked for the 4 banger mounts before, but I suspect you need to get the bracket with the mount attached. You're right though, welded on. However the rubber looks injected afterwards, thus I think you get the whole lower thing

Thanks for the response! When looking at browndog's website the mounts for the 4 cyl don't look much different than those for the 6 cyl.

I get the feeling that they whole bracket will have to be replaced as well but I haven't seen anywhere that I can buy that. If I do have to take this to a shop does anyone have an idea of a price?

Well, I got mounts from ironman4x4 and they cost me about $100 shipped. They are pure beef, just like everything else that Andy makes. So probably somewhere close to that price unless you go with cheaper OEM mounts from an auto parts store.

Now as far as taking them to a shop, I'd guess around $200-$300 with all the labor, but you can always get a quote from a shop over the phone if need be

Brasscatz, did you motor mounts look like mine? or did they just bolt onto the bracket? do you think I need to replace the entire bracket in order to replace the motor mounts?

Doesnt look like the correct motor mounts. Looks like someone just welded on something.
Your motor mounts should look like this on a 4cyl.

Ok that's what I was starting to think too. So would it be reasonable to replace the bracket and the mount? Does anyone know a part number or somewhere that sells the bracket? I have yet to find anywhere. Thanks for everyone's help
