For if you blow a tire on the side of the road and you have a 6 inch lift? How do you change it?

You know I've been looking for, off and on, for a second floor jack. Problem is I can never find one (at a decent price) that has a lift higher than 19 or 20 inches. I need to look at mine to be sure but I think it's a 23 or 24 inch lift.

I know you can use a 4x4, etc... but I'd really rather only do that as a last resort.

Specific to your question, it's a Sear floor jack and I think I paid about $90 for it over 10 years ago. I don't like that it has a removable handle, and you have to move the handle from the jacking position to the little valve to let the jack down.

If I read your post correctly, you are asking about changing a tire. Currently I just use the factory jack since I only have a 31" tire. Things like a high lift are unnecessary for changing tires. But say I had a 37" tire which I will be going to. That is a different story and I will address that probably with a scissors jack

I have a 20 dollar wally floor jack and a 4x4 . The 4x4 is for the trail in case the ground gives in to much.

I have watched guys drop slowly off a rock LOL I don't recommend that though.

Yep changing tires are easy as long as you can get a jack under the diff. I need to get a jack for the TJ.

I have heard that scissor jacks are unreliable compared to bottle or floor jacks.

If needed I would use my hi jack on the slider

I don't know what is unreliable about them. The Aussies use them on an impact wrench for tire changing comps in their off road races. But these are the choice for tire changing. In the shop I use either of two floor jacks. My ultimate jack for off road use will be my tranny jack converted to use on axles instead of transmission pans and will have the wheels removed and screw sealed up with a wood platform. It is wide and could be used on soft surfaces and has about 24" of lift. It is also a scissors jack. One advantage to these is the collapsible nature that would allow for good storage
