I'm trying to put together a parts list for my rear Dana 44. I lack the knowledge in the pinion yokes. There are 3 to choose from 1310, 1330, & 1350. What the heck is the difference?
Is it a good, better, best kinda thing or is it an actually fitment issue?

Those numbers reflect the size of the U joint they will accept. Also they come in strap and U bolt. You want U bolts. 1310 is the smallest and also the stock XJ size of U joint. 1330 is half ton size and 1350 3/4 ton size. If you are thinking about CV joints, they only come in 1310 and 1350. D44s in the past generally had 1330s. The nice thing about D44s is that they are so buildable. I am running 1350s of the back of the Atlas

Since I'm switching out the 8.25 for this D44. I'll have to get a new drive shaft any how would I not? If so, I'm assuming I would have to inform them so the yoke matches?

I was using this website as a reference by the way

The 8.25 uses the 1310 also. Not sure on length differences between the two

I think I just answered my own question(s). I have a hack n tap (RE). It's for a 1310. I think I'll just keep everything 1310 for simplicity. I think my lack of understanding was hanging me up.
So in other words. If a yoke is designed for a 1310 U joint then you have to stay with a 1310 and not fit in a 1350 U joint?

Yes. You will never get a 1350 in a 1310. Besides I think you will not have to modify your driveline that way. You up for a day or two at Fordyce a week from tomorrow?
