I remember in a recent interview with a team that races an XJ saying they were having a hard time finding 4.0's mainly due to the cash for clunkers program. Sad sad sad.

The block would be the same... Plus you get a lot of spare parts...

Thank you for the link, I'm gna have to go check that out, its only about an hour and a half from me but cheap. I found another ZJ same color as the wifes with a bad tranny for 600 might go look at that too. We recently had hers rebuilt but tranny swap vs. motor swap, and lots of spare body parts after the motor swap?????

Got a motor, swapped it, poured antifreeze, pulled it, found a plug missing. Put the plug in, put the motor back in. Ran great for a day. Sprang a leak in the top radiator hose, fixed it, jeep went stupid. tried and tried to figure it out. Took it to the dealer they "found the problem and fixed it". Picked it up, didn't get 10 miles, did it again. SCREW IT bought a 2013 Dodge Dart. Love it so far. Congrats on dodge for a well balanced car.

It's hard to enjoy the Jeep hobby without at least one dependable vehicle in the stable.

Spent time today on the wife's '03 Explorer doing basic preventative maintenance. With me still looking for work, we can't have a vehicle failure from something simple that I could fix for cheap ahead of time.
