It can be done from either. I generally stand on rocks, platforms or land.

I have cast net in some places with lots of seaweed and still caught fish.

There are very few places we could do that on our coast even if I lived close. Our coast line is steep and the surf rough. Good kite flying wind and wind surfing is good here on this end.

I have never done it, but have looked into it a few times... Might have to look into giving it a try and see what I come up with.. I know a few folks do it at local beaches and are going for the crabs they catch... They are allowed something like 5 bushels of crabs or something like that, so they can make a little bit of money off of it at the same time as having a good time and hanging out.... And I'm sure some decent eats too!!

It was fun learning too. I generally blind cast and can throw easily 100-200 times a day. People watching me will say to me I have lots of stamina. One of the reasons I started was because I thought it would be a good work out as well. And it is especially with the larger nets.
