View Full Version : HD coils vs ZJ coils...

I'm in the market for new coils and leafs. I'm going to get HD 7" arch leaf springs but I can't decide whether to get HD 17" XJ coils or V8 ZJ coils.

Which would y'all recommend?

My goal is a 1 - 2" lift over SD suspension package. I'm also considering 3/4" spacers and 1" boomrange shackles on top of new coils and leafs.

The coils question is difficult to answer without some numbers to compare. It is all about spring rates in "HD" springs. For instance, stock is 150#/inch. I am currently running 210# coils which would be considered heavy duty I think, but is kind of a ball park figure for lift coils. Some go higher. So you will need to make that decision I think based on what kind of ride you want and how much you want to spend

From what I've read... The HD coils are what the upcountry suspension package uses.

Anyways, I've decided anything bigger than 31's is a waste for me and I want to replace my worn, sagging coils and leafs with new ones and gain 1-2" lift to help my cut n' fold rear fenders and front outside of factory flare trimmed front fenders clear 31x10.5 muds.

The V8 ZJ coils give you a 1.5" lift
