Hello all. Ive been building in the dakota/durango platform for years now, bought a Ram 2500 and learned a few things about diesel. now with the dakota gone i found an 01 XJ for cheap locally with some minor issues. parts are on the way and it should be up and running soon. figured i'd sign up and see what types of shenanigans yall got goin on over here.

and obviously pictures are required......

Very nice! You know your way around a mopar. I'd love to have a 5.9 r/t, just something about a 360 in one that body style. Kudos, those are some sweet trucks.

the R/Ts are overrated!!!! mine started as a v-6 5spd. i swapped in a new rear axle and a 5.2. added a vortech supercharger and a bunch of other bolt on goodies. it melted the rear tired on the regular. it was a lot of fun. i just ran out of time and money for it. parted it out (i still have a few stock pieces) and now that i have a spare dollar or two ive picked up the Cherokee.

speaking of the XJ.........

2001 with 176k on it. dana 30/35 with a 231 TC. automatic. 4.5" skyjacker lift. 31" dunlop mud rovers.

blown headgasket, probly cracked head as well, some of the worst aux wiring i have ever seen. no crimps, just twisted and taped. thats all been ripped out. new head and gaskets will be here late this week. already found a couple local 8.25s with same gears.

still started and drove when i picked it up. probly could have limped it home (all of 5 miles) but im glad i didn't. took the VC off and he had driven it for a few days with the bad head gasket. hoping there is no cylinder/piston damage. minimal rust. clean title. its a project.......

it also ha a set of Hella 500s (i believe thats what they are at least from comparison pictures) mounted in the front bumper. those will be relocated to the A pillar

Bought one of those kind before. A '90 Bronco II, knowing it had head problems but it was a steal. Sounds like a nice project and will give you something different to modify. Hope the best with those cylinders/pistons
