Thanks for the welcome!

I got my first 4x4, a'96 XJ, a couple of weeks ago, just a few days before my 34th birthday. Better late than never as they say!

I sold my then daily driver, a 2002 buick lesabre, and picked up the XJ for $1300. The rest has gone to rims, tires, tax, title, body parts and paint. The interior was in VERY good shape considering the age. The ac doesn't work though, and it is HOT here in Texas right now.

I hope to have it in my buddy's shop for paint and body work this weekend, or next week sometime. He's a one man shop, and I'm behind a big project he is trying to finish. I will be helping him with the tear down and prep... the rest is up to him.

I have fallen in love with her in just these few short days. Just rolled over 154k today. I'm going to change the plugs/wires/cap/airfilter when she gets out of the shop. Considering a "high performance" filter like an air raid or K&N but not sure yet.

Anyway, The jeep is and will forever be my daily driver, so any lift/mods/etc I end up doing will be with that in mind. Also, it will be a while before I get into the lifts etc. because I am a total n00b at 4x4s. Still trying to learn as much as I can.

On to the PICS!

The day after I brought her home.

Rims and tires last week. Rims were used aluminium. Got a good deal, but they aren't super pretty finish wise. Will be getting a flat black paint job in the shop. Tires are Wild Country all terrains 235/75/r15.

Replacement Fender (passenger side was very wrinkled and missing the flare) and Hood (crease in the hood, was easier to get this one than try to fix it) $125 for both.

And.. a little light reading came in last evening courtesy of amazon prime. No excuses now!

Anyway, I look forward to learning from you guys, and hopefully meeting and wheeling with some of you in the future. Thanks for reading my ramble!

You are off to a good start. Personally I like it when someone builds a capable XJ that is also a daily driver. Mine is
