Hey guys! I can't hold my excitement any longer, I FINALLY found the XJ of my dreams (almost) and bought it today! It's only taken 2 months of driving all over Florida to find this beauty. She's a 99 with 86k(!!!!!!!) on the odometer. Has the tow package and an NP231, but has ABS so unfortunately I get the Dana 35 that comes with it. I guess that just means I'll get to have some fun searching the local junkyards instead of used car dealerships once I get done with changing the fluids and a tune up! If you can't tell, I'm ecstatic!!!! :D:D:D:D:D

Congrats on the purchase.. There are a few options for taking care of that ABS and that god forsaken Turdy-five!! LOL... But welcome to the addiction that is Jeepin'... Like Steve, wonder what your plans for the XJ?!!

Not quite sure yet. I've been looking at a 3'' RE lift with a little fender trimming to fit some 31'' tires. I saw one on CL about a month ago that had the wheels and tires off of a JK Rubicon and I really liked the look of that one. I'll see if I can dig up a pic of that one to show you guys.

If you want to run 31s on a 3" lift you can get away with not trimming fenders, especially with stock type wheels. I did for years

I'm a big fan of this look, it almost looks like it came that way from the factory. I'm sure eventually it will turn into much more than this but this is what I'm thinking about right now.

Congratulations! The search can get tiring so glad that's over. And to be so fruitful with the find too.

Btw, those jk wheels are going to require an adapter and are approximately 32" tires (if they're originals anyway).

Sent via messenger pigeon - i talk, he types.

You're totally right on both accounts! That guy had 255x75x17 tires and I definitely remember hearing about the adapters to fit Wrangler wheels on the podcast, possibly an XJTalk vendor?

I probably won't be able to afford anything big for at least a few months (massive student loan debt+ 3 accident-prone dogs), but I definitely love hearing about everyone else's builds and learning more and more from all the knowledgeable people on here everyday!

Congrats on the most excellent find Abe! I dig the JK rim look too, they have the bonus of being really easy to find too! If you like that factory look and you keep your eyes peeled you might even be able to score a set of the new style Rubicon rims (2014 models I think). Keep us posted on the progress!
