What do you guys think of me installing this automatic belt tensioner for my jeep 2001 cherokee xj. click link, need your thoughts.

If it fits, go for it. I have one on my Chevy from the factory. No worries about tension and it compensates for any out of round pulleys so it is easier on the belt

I like the iadel lot use know how will it works I may get one.

They use something like this on the 03 Wrangler we have. It makes things go faster but I suspect the XJ setup is simpler, cheaper, and less likely prone to failure.

I notice on my XJ that the belt has to be ridiculously tight to keep from squealing. I have that type of tensioner on my semi and my Dodge pickup. It works great for those two engines, but I'm pretty convinced that it wouldn't keep the belt on my XJ tight enough. It would squeal all the time and I doubt I've have A/C.

That was my concern as well, but then again the TJ is the same kind of set up as the XJ but they use one of these. Answer must be that at least the one that comes with the 4.0 TJ's is tight enough.
