Hey guys,

It's been a couple of years since I've posted here. Last time I was looking for some help in testing a press fleet Jeep Wrangler out at Creekside Edge, and had a tremendous response from you XJ folks. Some of the nicest and most helpful people I've ever met :)

Well I'm happy to say that I enjoyed everything you guys taught me out there in the press fleet Jeeps so much that I dumped my prissy little Audi and bought a '13 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon of my very own. First time in 13 years I haven't had a German car in the garage and loving every mile in the Jeep. I know it's not an XJ but my neighbor has an XJ and is a member here if that counts!

Anyway, you guys have been so awesome in the past that I thought I'd reach out and see if anyone felt like giving me a little off-roading 101 less out at Creekside Edge soon. I've been there a few times with various vehicles but obviously I want to actually learn something now that I have my own Jeep to play with :)

Thanks ladies and gents!

p.s. here's the article from last time I headed out there with a couple of you - http://www.speedsportlife.com/2011/05/25/hittin-the-trails-2011-jeep-wrangler-sahara-unlimited/

Everyone is welcome.

Rule #1; Don't go alone, and I don't mean with a passenger. You need to take a buddy with a 4x4 at least as capable as yours.

Rule #2; Tow points. You will get stuck and it's better to be pulled out (to freedom) by things attached to the unibody or frame than to start pulling off suspension parts, or body panels! :D

Rule #3; One of you needs a tow strap, and not one from AutoZone for $15.

It's usually better to pull someone out backwards than forwards. They got stuck going that direction to pull them back where there was traction.

Hmmmm I let some others throw in here. BTW, we could use some activity on our sister site http://www.wranglertalk.com/ :rolleye0012:

I'll add to Muddy's list; 1) Air Tank (if you let air out of your tires then you will need to air back up before hitting the pavement at the end of the day).
2) shovel for digging out 3) come-a-long (if you and your partner aren't winch equipped this is a handy item to have) 4) healthy dose of the un-common - Common Sense.

I second the common sense suggestion. Most of the bad situations wheelers get into is from too much testosterone. If it looks impossible, it just might be. Just wheel for fun, not to prove anything.

You know I'll be there Z. We had such a blast last time! It would be fantastic if we could manage a trip up during the first week in July!

your rubi has selectable lockers right? I'd wheel with both diffs open until you get a feel for it. when you get stuck, flip those lockers on and you should be good to go.
