After a quick search from the google box I have seen a few different recommendations for transfer case fluid types. I plan on doing a drain and fill this weekend and need to know if its dex/merc III or atf+4. I've got a 242.

I'm not sure what the trans uses. That's why I was asking. I can only assume that its dex III as I am without a manual. How many quarts does a drain and fill normally take? 2 ish?

Cool. I'll be doing that after I realize that my 3" lift isn't high enough and I add shackles and bigger springs LOL. You going to do the hack n tap?

No don't waist your money on that if you plan to wheel it alot and use the skinny petal like me lol I got the complete kit and a xj front drive shaft.

Changed the fluid in my 242 about 2 months ago. The manual calls for dex 3 and takes 3.1pints. Mine is in a Grand but is the same

For transfer case I use Coastal Synthic 75W 90. I have used it in 2 XJ's and a TJ with no problems

I did this today with Valvoline dex/merc in the blue bottle from wall mart. The old fluid was dark brown and due for a change. Thank goodness I read somewhere to get a fluid pump. That single item, I picked it up at Harbor Freight for $8, made this job simple. I appreciate everyone's help.
