In another post it appears that a good handful of us had old "Square body" Chevy trucks. Post up pics of your trucks guys.

I don't have any pics anymore of all mine but one on my Facebook pics its a 85 silverado 4x4 with 3/4 ton swap. I sold it for my wife's Jeep. I've had a 82 custom deluxe, 83 custom deluxe, 77 k5, 79 k5, 78 big 10, 67 GMC, 95 Tahoe, that's all the Chevy trucks I've owned. Had a few Dodge's and Ford's,Nissan's cars and trucks.

My first was a 1980 Chevy LWB Scottdale 2wd

I traded it in for a new 1983 Chevy SWB Silverado 4wd. I paid about $10.5k for it.

I was very close to buying an old chevy, but I had to consider the fuel costs and practicality and with my current job I wouldn't be able to keep gas in the tank. Plus I spend time with my brothers daughter 1yr so I needed the rear seat.

I couldn't park my old truck in the garage at home, which isn't all that important, but also I wouldn't be able to park it in the parking garage at work. Now that would be a problem. So with my XJ, which will go more places that the full sized truck would anyway, I can use it all the time not just some "special" events.

My 82 broke the frame and my 87 was involved in a tbone accident. Still have the 82 waiting on a "new"frame.... and a "new" engine as it was donated to my Dad's 65 Chevy K10.

Mine was an '82 3/4 ton 4WD with a granny 4-speed and 4.56 rears. It had a flat bed and a cake feeder on it. Hey, it was a ranch truck. It'd pull ANYTHING. I never did have any pics of it that I can remember.

It was an awesome 4WD. If I could turn a wheel, I could pull my 24 foot gooseneck stock trailer through it. Hauled a lot of cows with it and hauled horses to a lot of rodeos with it.

It developed an electrical issue that nobody could figure out. You could drive it for three weeks and it would just quit, like you turned the key off. IT might start right back up and it might not start for three weeks. If the engine turned more than twice, it wasn't going to start.

We'd hook it up to pull it to town to the mechanic and I'd pop the clutch and try to start it all the way there. Once there, I'd try one last time with no results. THe mechanic would come out and she'd fire right up. Did that more than once. Once I did get it there when it wouldn't start, they never could figure it out. Neither could any other mechanic around. I hated to do it, but I traded it for an '89 Ford F-250 4WD with a 5-Speed. It was a great truck, too.

I had an 86 Silverado 2wd LWB. I had a rebuilt 350 in it, not sure what went on inside, but it had World heads, Edelbrock performer intake, and a Carter/Edelbrock carb. I replaced the headers and did a true dual exhaust without cats.

That thing was about as simple as can be. No smog equipment, and I could climb my 17 year old self right in to work on it. That truck got me started on learning to wrench myself.

I sold it for $850 when I was 20. Wish I'd have kept it. The body was rough, but that motor was strong and the transmission was rebuilt shortly after I got it.

Yeah Jesse I would sit in the engine bay to work on it as well. Sit on the radiator support or the front of the engine with one foot on each frame rail. On the 82 I also had headers and true dual 3" pipes with 2 chamber flowmasters. I wouldn't have gone with 3" pipes myself but got a screaming deal on the whole system. I set soo many car alarms off with that exhaust and on a couple of occasions I used the sound of the exhaust to drown out those guys with big thumping systems. They would turn up the volume and I would turn up the RPM and back and forth... ahh fun stupid stuff.
