Ive been thinking that I want to get front amd rear bumpers after my lift kit. What are you running and would you recomend them? Im looking for something with a rear spare tire carrier. So far I likr what nates4x4 has to offer as they seem to bee good fpr the price.

Here is a link to nates4x4 just in case you wanna look at his products. http://www.nates4x4.com/SearchResults.asp?Cat=1821 I'm thinking combo 1, 3 or 4. I know I need the tire carrier. Just not sure how bad I want a winch.

IN my opinion I'd get the winch bumper and the tire carrier if you can afford it. You can run it with or without a winch. It's nice to have the option to get a winch later if you change your mind.

I like the roof rack. But those bumpers are clunky. But cheap in price. Have you seen the dirt bound offroad stuff? They fit nice & tight close to the jeep. I think better lines and element of design is better.

I have the dirt bound off-road DIY cut and fold rear bumper, but I'm kinda disappointed. There were no directions, or exploded view, or even a decent picture of how the sides attach. I sent them several e-mails with no response. So the bumper is just sitting on the floor in the basement.

That's not good. Have you tried calling them?

No. I've kinda lost interest in that particular project for now.

Send it this way, I'll assemble it, and test it on my '99 for a few months, will even send action pictures!:smiley-laughing021:

I just recently got the pre-runner front bumper from JCR Offroad and I love it! The quality of fabrication is really good, the instructions were good, and the fit and installation was very straight forward. I got the non-winch version but I highly recommend JCR for the Front.

I've been looking for a rear bumper myself. I've probably looked at everything out there including Nates. They have some decent looking packages at really good prices so I'm sure you can't go wrong there. If I were to recommend a rear system with carrier I'd say look at Detours Offroad (one of the XJ Talk Vendors). I've seen his stuff in person and I am highly impressed! If I decide to go with a tire carrier I'll probably go with his full bumper and carrier setup. The tailbone system he sells is pretty neat too.

Good luck with making a decision and don't forget to snap some pictures!

That's the same front bumper I've got on mine. You won't be disappointed! I'm sure I've got pictures up on the site somewhere if you want to check out a "real life" installation. Be prepared to have someone hold the steering gear box for you when you install the driver side mount. I didn't, the gear shifted and the rear seal broke loose.

I really like that dirtbound carrier... that must be new I haven't seen it before. I'd love to hear your thoughts once it arrives.

I was looking at the JCR Pre-runner "winch" version closely. If DETOURS hadn't have agreed to build my custom bumper chances are very good JCR would have been my choice. I think you're going to kick yourself for not getting a winch bumper though.

Who needs a winch when you've got friends? ;)
