Hello all. I recently acquired my 1st Jeep. It's a 91 XJ. I am in the process of building it up to make it a little more offroad worthy. I have already addressed the mechanical issues with the Jeep, and now I get to move on to the fun stuff.

A couple of the Jeep, and one of me.

Welcome to xjtalk, Kelly. The repairs can be aggravating sometimes but when you get to the point of "fun stuff" makes it all worth it. Glad ya found us, and hope we can help get it built to wheel.

They were a little before my time, but I've seen a few of them. The name comes from the nickname I gave my XJ, due to the purple look of the faded burgundy paint.

The repairs weren't too bad. It was just a bad tps, an incredibly dirty throttle body, a vacuum leak at the FP regulator, a bad starter, wornout trackbar, and wasted swaybar links. Well, now that I write it all out it seems like a lot, but with access to a lift and shop air at work, as well as a 33% discount on Mopar parts I was able to knock them all out in a day.

Mire are MT retreads on the BFG AT TA carcasses. They're incredibly loud, but I like them. Do yours sound like a helicopter taking off when you get above 45mph?

And thank you- I'm proud of my big fat bass! :D

Sounds good, so what's the plan for mods now?

Sounds good, so what's the plan for mods now?

I have a Rough Country 3" lift sitting in a box waiting to be installed. In my last few junkyard runs I've picked up a front skid and a transfer case skid. I'm still hunting down a gas tank skid and a rear hitch. I found an Upcountry XJ in the yard with the factory towhooks and brackets, so I grabbed those as well. I also found a GC tierod assembly in good shape.

I took a few minutes a week or so ago and bypassed the vacuum disconnect on the front axle using the C-clip method.

So I guess the immediate plans would be install the lift, install a full set of skids, install factory tow hooks, put on the beefier GC tierod, and install a rear hitch.

I found some angle iron at work today that will work well for rock slider brackets, just need to find some good material for the arms and the rails now.

Sometime in the future I'll tackle things like framerail stiffeners and a roofrack. An Aussie locker would be nice up front too.

Good plan, and nice yard hunting! Sounds like you know what you're doing. Need to do some yard diving myself.
