XJ round headlight Conversion.

Any ideas? Threads? Posts? People who have done it? i cant find any posts about it i love the way it looks seen it done on a few cherokees, my neighbor has it but said he bought it that way (it was a shop build) THANKS guys. If i figure out how its done i will build a thred showing how.

Not really a write up, just pics..... but from what I gather from looking at them, he retro-fitted the TJ buckets into the XJ Core Support, and clearanced the back of the Header Panel and bezels to fit the bulbs.

Doing the mod and keeping some "factory" look about will be hard part.


Ive got a front panel and TJ lenses and mounting rings sitting here atm ... figgered some cutting and fibreglassing would get it all done.


.... currently its all stored in the "too hard" basket ... :D

I agree. Something just ain't right about a round object in a square hole. The round headlights are cool in the cj's and wranglers, mainly cause those jeeps have some curves on em. The xj is brick, so square works best. I don't even really like round offroad lights on a xj.

I thought about putting a tj grill hood and some tube fenders on my xj but seen it done on Facebook and really didn't like it so I may just upgrade to a 97-01 front end one day heck I already have 98 interior lol

i definitaly want to do a front end conversion on my cherokee to an earlier model. do i just need fenders and front clip?

Yup just need header panel(and everything that goes on it like the grill, headlight doors, blinkers, side marker lights) and fenders.

Dude if you want to put a TJ front end on your rig do it... but try to make it flow a bit better than that one above. Maybe a YJ front clip would be better. Keep the square head lights and the squareness of it may look better.

Maybe ill start a new trend like cut fenders.. HAHA no i would never do that. Just want the round headlight but ive been talked out of it a little. I'm going to pick and pull this weekend to se if i cant find a 97-01 any ideas what that would run me? and is there a way to do a later model hatch swap?
