When I shift my tranny into gear it shift a little rough but it seems to be working just fine. But keep in mind that I have 191K on my jeep. What about the rest of you.
Does anyone have a tranny that shifts ever so smooth with higher miles?
Ive changed the tranny fluid every 40 to 45K and it's nice and red.

My 99 with an AW4 has a tad over 230k....the tranny was fully serviced at about 100k....
Even thru all the miles, and the wheeling, it shifts when it's supposed to, kicks down when I want it to, and hasnt ever slipped on me.
From park to drive, it DOES engage hard, I think mainly because of the the Chrysler rear end....
They are prone to have a little play between the teeth (or so I have heard)....
Its called the "Chrysler clunk"....but it's never caused any issues ever.

Trans, tcase, ujoints, rear end, etc wears out after time. That all builds up into a pretty good amount of driveline play. A little clunk is normal.

The chrystler clunk is a good word for it. I'm not having any problem. Just wondering whats normal and how long she will go. Fluid is red and she runs great.
