I have tires that are 225 70R 16 size on my jeep which is what I am supposed to have.

Will it hurt anything if I get some 225 75R 16 tires. I can get them from a buddy, almost new for cheap. they would be a half inch taller or so.

the dealer said they would need to make a calibration in the computer in the jeep and it would affect the tranny and speedometer if I don't do that.

I'm looking to save money on new tires.

I need your thoughts.

Thanks

thats not enough difference to matter in terms of gearbox and speedo. lots of folks run much bigger tires without ever getting that stuff changed. Slap them puppies on their and call it a day. Good tread pattern on them? almost new for almost free is bonzer.

Ok good. I was wondering. The speedometer runs about 3 mpg slower right now anyway.

Thanks

If I get new tires it is $125 per tire x 4 plus lifetime rotation and balance, valve stems, tire disposal and installation it's another 80 or so. so 580 plus tax. I would be over 600, ouch!!!!

yup, the bigger you go the more $ you shell out. BUT when you're in the gumbo, you want the best tires you can get

I dont know the exact difference in tire size your asking about but i went from 29x9x15 to 32x10.5x15 and because the height. i didnt see much of a differnce. Spedo is off by 2 MPH for me now. I have an 87 cherokee. Id say if your getting a deal do it.

Unless you have no clearance or are rubbing already, I'd say you're safe making that switch. A 225/70 to 225/75 is a pretty small change. Go for it! :)

Not even a little? Tires are great and I hit a lot of bump on the was to chicago. Two hour drive and no shaking. But we both were wiggling that bar and it move qbout and inch to two inch up and down.

Like the center of the tie rod? Then yes, they are hallow and quite weak so you can push/pull on it some. The ends, they should be solid.

I'm not sure about the video upload issue, but if you grab the tie-rod end right where the grease nipple is/should be, there should be no up/down movement. It should be VERY difficult to move it forwards/backwards or side to side.

When I grab that bar right in front and I grab the nipple with the rubber donut and I move it up and down about an inch maybe a bit more. So I think everything is going to be replaced. I am going to buy a complete front end kit and call a buddy over and we are going to do it ourself and it will be all new. Maybe I can send the video to someones email. Can you email me an email and I will send it to you.

If your talking about the tierod rolling, but not physically moving up and down then thats normal
