Hello. I've been listening to the 4x4 podcast and just recently the xj talk podcast at work iPods are a wonderful thing I've been looking for an xj right now most are a bit out of my price range or rotted right out . I've found one the floor is a bit rough but it has been sitting for aprox 3 years Is there anything to look for motor trans transfer etc with it sitting so long ? If nothing else I can pick it up for parts for another one Thanks.

:welcome: to :xjtalk: and thanks for listening to the show.

I found a 99 on craigslist about 2 years ago now. Picked it up for about $2,400. One trick you might do is drive around looking for Jeep Cherokees parked in people's yards. The CPS will go out on them and people will just park them thinking there is a serious problem. It's a very common issue. A knock on the door, a couple of questions and you'll probably have a pretty good idea if that's the issue.

Go get a CPS and a few tools, 30 minutes later you're driving your XJ home for $500 to $900. :D

Deals can be had. Also, you might consider a trip to get one out of the rust belt. The extra money involved is a good investment for not having to deal with rust
