Ok, so we have a few threads all ready! But we don't have a B.S. thread yet. I've just opened this thread to encourage the Lady's of the forum to come out and meet each other, we have to stick together in this male dominated sport and show em' we can do it to! Boys you are always welcome to come and chime in on the chit chat!

And for anyone who is wondering why Jeepacorn? Here ya go!

this from CF, on one of our threads.

The guys were talking one day saying we were a rare breed, kinda like unicorns. Next thing ya know, they had combined the two words into "jeepacorn".
Jeepacorns are a rare breed. We are those Women not girls who wheel and work on our Jeeps. We're not afraid to get our hands dirty or back away from a puddle unless there is a possibility we may snuff out our engines!
They say a Jeepacorn can keep up with a drooler on a trail... no no we pass them take the lead and show em' how it's done. The title of a Jeepacorn is to be earned. It is not to be taken for granted or as a given. Do your sisters proud show everyone how its done and most important don't drool over the droolers.. keep them in there place!
We dont seek out men or boys, they seek us! They can only wish and dream to have a true Jeepacorn, but usually are not worthy of a Jeepacorn. Jeepacorns are NOT pecker chaser, flirts yes... Ask anyone on the site for Purple is the biggest of all... Lol she holds that title proud! We dont throw ourselfs at men, for we are Jeepacorns not (w)horses!! lmao!
but the most important characteristic of a Jeepacorn is NO DRAMA!

Oh heck no we love you guys! I can honestly say that I wouldn't be nearly as mechanically inclined as I am today of I didn't have many helpful guys on these jeep forums and real life friends that have helped me along the way I'll always be great full for that! So you're always welcome!

Floor jacks are great. Sometime if you are wanting to spend money on tools, check out the aluminum floor jacks. I am spoiled now. I think I have only used my steel jack once in five years. Light enough to take to the pick and pull and with a handle that breaks down for travel.

My Dad has one of those aluminum racing jacks. IT'S AWESOME! It somehow goes REALLY fast up to whatever you're jacking up in about 2 throws of the handle, and then when it 'feels' weight, it starts operating as a normal jack. It doesn't have wheels on one side like most floor jacks and it goes REALLY flat. I wish I knew where to buy them. I'd love to have two.

Mine is a Craftsman, so any Sears or Kmart if you have them there. Also check Summit Racing and JEGS.

The red one is a 3 and a half tone floor jack, but my little back jeep bottle jack was on top pressing that 2x4 agains the crossmember lining up the bolt holes for me :)

It has been quite awhile since I bought mine. Got it for a sale price with two large car stands thrown in. They come on sale. A popular item with most people

I wish I could find a jack that goes higher than 20 inches! I have one that does 22 or 24, can't remember, and I've been spoiled with it working on my Jeeps.

I'll add, higher without a HUGE price jump.

XjJeepacorn
04-15-2013, 06:24 PM
Sounds like you need a large block to put on your jack!

4.3LXJ
04-15-2013, 06:56 PM
I stack blocks under mine in that case

XjJeepacorn
04-15-2013, 09:41 PM
That can get sketchy! I used to have an big block of like 10 x 10 lol forgot it at the old place when I moved back in December

Harbor Freight sells the aluminum jacks as well.

XjJeepacorn

Is that like a store in America? I will have to check it out on my next cross border shopping trip!

XjJeepacorn
04-18-2013, 12:26 AM
I'm thinking about buying new tires down there and having them installed lol!

4.3LXJ
04-18-2013, 12:27 AM
Yes, Harbor Freight is a store chain that sells inexpensive tools. They are all over the US

XjJeepacorn
04-18-2013, 12:27 AM
Can you guys recommend a good place to get 33" mudders down there? ie western New York!

4.3LXJ
04-18-2013, 12:28 AM
Which brand?

XjJeepacorn
04-18-2013, 12:28 AM
Yay that's exciting I love shopping down there!

XjJeepacorn
04-18-2013, 12:29 AM
I don't know! What brand really I haven't thought about it to much yet! I just know everything is way cheaper down there and I could so get away with that easy!

XjJeepacorn
04-18-2013, 12:32 AM
My 31's are going to be toast soon they are down to like 25 - 30 % so I wouldn't be heart broken about leaving them there if I could get a good enough deal

4.3LXJ
04-18-2013, 12:34 AM
Americas Tire gives good deals. If you can find a 4 wheel parts, they say they will beat any deal

XjJeepacorn

Cool! I just checked out harbour freights website, it's like our princess auto :)

XjJeepacorn
04-18-2013, 12:47 AM
I have a similar ball joint kit that they have on their site... Mine was 120 cad, that what I mean by things are cheaper it's on sale right now but even at regular price it's like 70 something and just the other day it cost me 8 dollars to buy 280 us...

Anyways!

I'm seeing about making this stock Tj skid plate fit my xj it was given to me so I'm going to see if I can make it work! Nothing like a bit of under belly protection! So far it's looking like a bit of cutting and grinding is gonna needa be done!

04-20-2013, 10:40 PM
Just a suggestion on that one Naomi. Put some more holes in the bottom. Those can fill up with mud and weigh a ton

XjJeepacorn
04-21-2013, 12:28 PM
Thanks! I wanna get a hole saw to bore out my throttle body anyways :)

4.3LXJ
04-21-2013, 03:42 PM
Another suggestion Naomi. The throttle body is a precision piece of equipment. It needs perfectly round and smooth walls and a butterfly that fits exactly, otherwise you will have runaway idle. The hole saw is a great idea for the skid plate, but you really need a milling machine for the throttle body. All I can say is that in spite of my skills, I would not do that.

XjJeepacorn
04-21-2013, 08:13 PM
Oh well thanks! I didn't realize that! I just read its a good thing to do lol :)

4.3LXJ
04-21-2013, 08:39 PM
I can understand wanting to save money. I think you can get them in the states for about $65 exchange if you look

XjJeepacorn
04-21-2013, 09:32 PM
Cool I may ad that to the next cross border shopping trip lol it's easy enough to install before I come home!

XjJeepacorn
04-21-2013, 09:37 PM
Quick question!

So the shifter for the t case, the bolts keep turning and going no where lol! I didn't feel them snap. ??? Not sure what to do about it

4.3LXJ
04-21-2013, 09:48 PM
What part of the shifter?

XjJeepacorn
04-21-2013, 09:51 PM
Yeah inside the plate thing attached and the shifter it's self

XjJeepacorn
04-21-2013, 09:52 PM
The whole thing inside it has 8 mm bolts

4.3LXJ
04-21-2013, 11:05 PM
Those go into nutserts. Personally, I welded mine.

XjJeepacorn
04-21-2013, 11:18 PM
Yeah how do I get it off? They just spin! I was thinking I could grind them off but now I can't figure out how to get the damn center console lol!

XjJeepacorn
04-21-2013, 11:19 PM
I was thinking grind em' off then silicone the mount part back on with the black stuff and then for the shifter plate just use some self tappers and silicone it some more lol

4.3LXJ
04-21-2013, 11:21 PM
I had some self tappers in and they all worked loose. So I got the hot glue gun out. I never really want to remove it again, so there it is.

XjJeepacorn
04-21-2013, 11:23 PM
All I really need is the shifter plate, is there a way to just swap them out?

XjJeepacorn
04-21-2013, 11:23 PM
Lmao hot glue!! That's one thing I've never used on jeepy lol!!!

4.3LXJ
04-21-2013, 11:27 PM
Yeah, you can pull it and replace it with any from an XJ as long as it has the right number of notches for your tcase. The 231 and 242 has different notches, or stops. But they come apart and you can swap the right one in if you need to

4.3LXJ
04-21-2013, 11:28 PM
Lmao hot glue!! That's one thing I've never used on jeepy lol!!!

My glue is about 2000°F :D

XjJeepacorn
04-21-2013, 11:41 PM
I'm thinking that may be easier because My buddy that I got my case from have me the shifter and linkage b/c he didn't know if I needed it or not. But still those damn bolts lol! I may just leave it for tomorrow seeing as I won't need 4wd for work!

4.3LXJ

You get to keep it till it is cleaned out

Mudderoy
04-22-2013, 03:56 PM

Well to me I'd just keep it the way it is. In fact I'd love to have something like this on my XJ. It's just another thing to clean after you play in the mud, besides a ton of mud in there would just me a very low center of gravity! :smiley-whacky119:

Got this done over the weekend

217221732174217521762177

The only thing I actually measured was where the t case support fit lol

XjJeepacorn
05-06-2013, 10:52 AM
So I drilled right through the frame and reinforced it with pieces of this
2178

And I used 5 inch by 1/2 bolts grade 8 I still have to paint the skid plate and drill a few more holes it'll have those four holding it up plus 2 more at the front and back, again going right through the frame with support pieces, the bolts are a bit long so I am going to cut them down a little bit :)

XjJeepacorn
05-06-2013, 10:54 AM
I'm going to loose about an inch clearance, no biggie I'd rather sacrifice an inch for some under belly protection, I took away the tease drop and added this so it works out in the end :)

4.3LXJ
05-06-2013, 11:04 AM
Now, when do you try it out?

XjJeepacorn
05-06-2013, 11:09 AM

I'd love to but I think that may be when Glenda's coming here lol! I want to drive down that way over Xmas so I may be able to stop for a day or two of wheeling, if not I'll make plans for 2014 :)

4.3LXJ

They have it all wrong, the mud is supposed to splash all over your car not away from it? Jeez do we have to teach these engineers everything? I mean I would totally have to get one of my friends to do a big fat power slide right in front of me to get that j... J... Je... No I can't even say it, to get that thing muddy!

Apparently they are making one trail rated addition, wonder if it will perform like the "trail rated" silver jeep Jk we drove down in your neck of the woods lol!!! It'll probably even have a plastic bumper to! Wtf?

XjJeepacorn
05-20-2013, 02:57 AM
The saddest part about that little Jk was trying to reverse up any slight incline lmao even at that gas station out by TDS it was a paved surface for Christ sake and I swear you were looking at me like wtf she can't drive but it was the damn silver jeep doing its slight incline thing!!!

bluedragon436
05-20-2013, 04:45 AM
You just need to pick up the FWD version... should do nicely on the hills to get into the gas station!! LOL... Yeah I def do not think that thing should at all be grouped with the Cherokee... I think the Commander was the newest Jeep that could be at all grouped with the Cherokee... at least once you get past the new headlights and front end there it almost has like a newer rounder body of the Cherokee... unlike this lump of shit they are calling the Cherokee!!

XjJeepacorn
05-20-2013, 09:28 AM
I don't like the sound of that whole computerized transfer case thing. With pre sets for different driving conditions, it all just says sketch to me! Next thing you know it's going to turn into a Ceylon and blow is all up! The other thing is the approach angle and the lack of ground clearance. apparently it can go through 20 Inches of water ppppfffftttt then it's kinda cool that the trail hawk model comes with a locked rear end and allot more hp it has a better gear ratio too.

I was just like any plans for up grades and the next thing ya know half an hour went by lol! And then there is mason boy who I see often too... Naomi, you planning on running a compressor off the power inverter/

XjJeepacorn
05-21-2013, 11:27 PM
No lol A buddy offered me one, even thought ... And I still want my ac :) I got the power inverter for 75 bucks, it was an open box sale the thing is worth like 400 :) I just want to be able to run power tools off the jeep IDK of that would have enough juice to run my air compressor it's 26 gallons and the thing don't fit so well in the back lol

The reason I asked is that most compressors will not run off electronic inverters. Not like the old school iron ring inverters which will. We are going to have a pod cast on this stuff, so not too many details yet. :D

Are you talking about air intake battery or air compreser becouse I,m moving my air intake up to the window and in the cowling so I can put a second battery in were the airbox is now.

I don't want a cowl air intake that would annoy me while driving! I bought a regular snorkel. I'll find a way to make it work I've also been looking at waterproof containers sold at like camping supply places.. So yeah I was talking about both

I'm looking at going though the cowl and out the side so I will not snag the side tube of a snorkel. Then it will give me more room for a battery and get more air into the eng.. the cowl one don't get much air when it snows and covers the cowling.

XjJeepacorn
05-22-2013, 02:27 PM
Well something else I have planned, I was reading on Jeepcentral.ca and I found Someone who put a half inch spacer on the hood hinge to raise up the hood so it would sort of be like a cowl hood it's not much but it's a great idea to help get a bit more of that heat out. This is something I am going to do my self. I have a set of ford explorer hood shocks and what I am thinking is about an inch of aluminum to space out the actual mount of the hing where I will be attaching it to he hood! I'm full of crazy ideas I swear my jeep is never going to be "done" it'll be more like... Satisfied for the time being!!!

XjJeepacorn
05-22-2013, 02:29 PM

Thought I'd bring this thread back from the dead! Lol I've been organizing my garage with some upgrades and actually putting my tools away I've all ready posted the new cupboards I acquired a new bench 2 more benches still to come. Loving all the garage upgrade donations lately got some good friends :) managed to get all my sockets ratchets and wrenches organize. It was getting to the point where I couldn't find anything lol so it was time. I can actually see the surface of my tool cart! That hasn't happened in a while lol. I was intending on posting pics but tap a talk is being lame so just imagine things wiped down and put away :)

I also was gonna get some work done but I got side tracked on reading a few different build threads because I might be getting a new jeep tomorrow another 99 xj but she's got 350 000 km so like 270 000 miles ish I've been thinking about an engine swap and seeig as I have another donation! A 700r4 tranny I'm leaning towards a 4.3 after reading some ls1 and 5.7 swaps. I want room for extras I still want to run dual batteries and have on board air. But we'll see I still have to go inspect the jeep and see that shits a big project and I have some good willing help on hand and By that it doesn't mean when a male offers you "help" and then just does everything for you. (That pisses me off if that's what so want I'll say it) thinking winter project but we'll see also depends on the cash flow :)

I hear that a lot lol!

I've never had any problems with anyone here. Everyone respects one another so it works well :) I haven't had much time for anything but I have to get back to my forum and try and get more members lol it's always a grave yard around there! But I'm going to keep trying I need to figure out some stuff and do more tech articles, that shit gets the most views so I figure the more I make the more eyeballs and the more chances I'll have of people signing up and joining the cause!

More taverns than houses? That must be Paradise, CA. Isn't that really close to you?

Being a resident of Paradise ,I can say in the old days,1800's and early 1900's that was true but as time has past and the miners and loggers have moved away and the Blue Diamond match company left the Bars have faded and the Church's have prevailed. We now have only 4 operating bars and MANY Church's here in town. Many of our resturants have bars in them but only the 4 free standing watering holes exsist. We have become over the years a retirement town mostly and after the fires in '08 many people have moved away. Ok ramble off , but I have alot more info if your interested lol
PS Chico has way more bars than we do lol lol

They were all that way. Not much to do but work and drink. Not many women around. Paradise was originally named Pair of Dice. It was a gambling town. Most of them had at least 20 taverns.

Correction it was Pair O Dice and main street was nothing but casino/bars and well them "men" clubs lol lol In fact Enloe hospital actually was founded in Paradise by Dr. Enloe. His original sanitarium still stands.
