I could also say maybe it's because I'm on week 7 smoke free and week 3 of not on the electric smoke! Yay !!! Haven't gained any way I have been monitoring I've been fluctuating between my normal 130 - 135 range which is damn near perfect for my height :)

I made corn bread and ate a bunch lol!! Probably should have ate something else but that's why I always make a big batch! And I made savoury corn bread muffins with an egg in the middle and fried onions and extra old cheddar cheese!! For a yummy breakfast!

Bacon would have topped off the muffins but I am out and my bacon costs 6.99 a pound because it's pastured pork I only eat that stuff :)

I wish I had a smoker, this was made on a cheap barrel grill I picked up a few years ago. I just put the coals and wood chunks on one side, the meat on the other and do my best to keep the temp at ~225*F.

Tonight I made Currency: Ukrainian style perogies (that's what it says on the box!) they are potato and garlic so I sliced up a whole onion and added half a brick of frozen spinach and then shredded up some cheddar cheese fried the perogies and put some sour cream on the side and ended up with this!!!

Actually, there's a local burger joint that I think is better too. More of a novelty I guess....

TURKEY DAY is upon us!! I've been deep frying turkeys for several years and they are amazing. This year, my folks are headed to Chicago to be with my sister and BIL. They should have a baby sometime this week - almost 2 weeks overdue. SO the wife and I aren't going to cook a whole turkey. We found a cool recipe for butterflied turkey and are stuffing it with sausage, cheese and whatever else she picks up. We're doing the deboned version.

Curious if anyone else is doing a unique turkey recipe. Trying to decide if we'll brine it or not. Post up your unique T-day recipes!

X2 on carls JR.

I love Five guys burgers the most.

Is there such a thing as a "bad burger"?

Five Guys is pretty good, but as far as here in Houston, Beck's Prime is better, Bull & Bear Pub is better yet, then the best burgers I've had in my life were in Scotland. "The World's End Pub" in particular. The "Wallace" burger almost had me in tears :D

I had never had a 5 Guys burger until about weeks ago. I was really surprised. It was good. I had their standard cheese burger with bacon.

Recently I've eaten at the Sonic that is near my new job. Those burgers have been very good. Even though they're a chain different stores do make a difference.

Whataburger are also very good.

I guess the best burger I've had in sometime was at Red Robin.

Carl Jr's recently came to the area. My wife and I went to try one out. It was okay, but not worth making a special out of the way trip for. I doubt I'll ever eat there again, but then again maybe it was just that store.

In-N-Out has to be the best fast food burger here in AZ (my opinion). Carls Jr is good but I dont like most of their stuff and I absolutely hate Del Taco....never tried chick fil a

Theres a couple non fast food burger joints here that I love,....5 guys is expensive, especially compared to In-n-out

We will be brining our bird, but not sure about the recipe, thinking about some sort of combination of water, apple cider, salt, and a few spices. The smoked pork butt last week turned out so good that I think I'll be trying my hand at a whole smoked turkey tomorrow. Will post up how it turns out, if it turns out...

Better be a mud terrain!!

Abe, I'd be worried about it drying out. Maybe wrap with foil half-way?

abebehrmann
11-27-2013, 01:10 PM
I am a little concerned it might dry out too, that's why I'm planning on brining it as well as injecting it with BUTTER! The foil wrap is a good idea too, I will probably wrap it for the last hour or two just to make sure it doesn't dry out.

Sorry, I was under the impression that in order for it to be classified as a "burger" it had to contain some type of meat.

They use to serve us a thing they called pizza burger. It wasn't a pizza or a burger. I don't even think it was food.

Smoked turkey turned out great! I brined it overnight in water, salt, brown sugar, and a few spices. Next morning I melted some butter and injected the breast with ~60cc of melted butter, then smoked with oak charcoal and applewood chunks for around 6.5 hours. The white meat was really moist (thank you butter) and the dark meat and legs reminded me of the smoked turkey legs I used to get at the county fair. Next time I will prob cover the wings with foil and throw some apple and onion inside the cavity.
