Is it time? or should I man up and clean the crud and rebuild the magnet?

Depends on your budget....
If its rebuild-able, and your partial to THAT one....go for it....
Otherwise, I'd say just swap it out.
While your doing the install....might as well upgrade the wire as well.
Go with a good 4awg..... it'll really help with a quicker start.

Yeah,the article was what made me attempt a repair and cleaning,but it was too far gone for me. It was a good experience though. Disassembly and assembly was straight forward.
