Following this write-up: http://www.xjtalk.com/showthread.php?t=5059

Trying to to my aux fan bypass switch and it doesn't seem to work. When I flip the switch, I hear the engine bog down slightly as if the fan is coming on, but the fan isn't turning. Second.... my tail lights are on all the time.... Did I splice into the wrong wire? The DB/PK looks dark blue/orange to me... my other options are darkblue/white, and darkblue/yellow. I don't have a voltage meter to check if this was the right wire or not, but my circuit tester to that wire lit up when hooked to the negative battery terminal....

Also, I spliced in at the PCM side not the fuse box side
Okay.... so this is what I have to the 30amp relay:

1. wire running from positive side of battery to relay terminal 86
2. DB/PK (looks DB/OR to me) to relay terminal 85
3. Ground wire running from relay terminal 30 to ground bolt that the engine's ribbon ground goes to.
4. other side of the "DB/PK" wire spliced in with wire to my toggle switch attached to terminal 87
5. middle relay terminal 87 open.

on the switch. It's a 3 prong lighted toggle switch and this is what I have:
1. spliced wire to middle prong marked "L"
2. prong marked "B" is grounded to the bottom bolt that is part of what I'm assuming is my brake pedal bracket

I'm going back out in the garage to work on it, but I'll check back on my phone shortly.

Ok, so by touching a ground to the wire I spliced, I heard a relay clicking... it was my a/c clutch relay. I've repaired that wire, now to find the correct wire....

So you looked at this, right? http://www.xjtalk.com/showthread.php?t=5060

It worked but I'd get a CEL so I did this...

I did when I first tried it, later I figured it out. I ran the 12volt line straight to the battery. No more cell code.

So that means that 86 went to the battery.

Yep, that's the write up I was using. Turns out, my DB/PK wire was so close to orange, that I got the ac clutch wire mixed up with the aux fan wire. I consulted my fsm and found that the aux fan wire is connected to pcm connector C3 in the pin C2 slot. I traced that wire and hooked it back up... works perfectly :) the test will be tomorrow in stop and go traffic. Keep your fingers crossed!! Oh, and I was worried I screwed up a tail light connector... A quick text to Msmoorenburg revealed my brake switch came off the bracket. Fixed ;)

Make sure you have the correct wire before bothering with all the add-ons and connections.

If you havent got a multimeter .............. and why not ?? :p .. :D

... pop the bottom off the PDC (ever so gently ;);)) ... and follow the blue/pink wire from the base of the fan relay.

Have one.... doesn't work :D I could pick one up for under $20 though. But I'm cheap too lol
