I'd chop mine in a heart beat IF I could find a hard top for winter and summer and only drive it open in spring and fall.

I don't think it would be hard to wireframe a top and the cover it in fiberglass. Trucks! Did a bumper that way using a fleece blanket to stretch over the wireframe.
