Stray wire, where does it go?

It's a red wire with a black connector on it. I found it disconnected underneath the black panel that hides all the relays and the ignition coil (my XJ has a distributor). The wire itself is about a foot-and-a-half long, and comes out of a bunch of other red wires (about 5-6 other red wires), underneath that same panel. I looked around, and I cannot see any matching connectors within its reach. Any ideas on what it may go to? Everything works except for my oil pressure gauge which is bottomed out on the right side of the gauge. Could it possibly go to that?

Yeah I'd def say get a pic of the wire & connector, and if you can show what's around it in another pic, that'd probably help folks to figure out what it might be, or be able to look on their XJ's to maybe figure it out...

I believe I have the same wire... I think it goes to an option that your Jeep might not have come with, like abs or something. I'm not positive though

A friend of mine's 89 had a couple of wires, one that looked just like that in that same area that was hooked to nothing.. looked into it further when we pulled the engine to rebuild it... but never found another end to it... That is what I found online as well is that it most likely went to an option that his XJ wasn't equipped with...
