Rough Country is the only one that comes to mind. Now I'm trying to remember if they have it in a 4.5.

Yeah they have one, starts at $1,300... http://www.roughcountry.com/jeep_xj_4xla.html

i noticed the zone kits the other day, they are actually really cheap, but will they hold up?

I can't speak for Zone lift kits but I've been running a set of Zone shocks for a little over a year and I've never had a single issue with them.

I just ordered a long arm kit for my ZJ from Iron Rock Offroad. A friend of mine has their XJ long arm kit (not sure what lift size) and loves it. They have a 4" LA kit for $1050:

any real reason to go long arm? I'm at 4.5 on drop brackets. Flexes good and rides great on the road. Just seems like overkill for a 4" lift...

x2

My SA Rough Country 6.5"(when I got done it sat at 7.5") flexed just as well as a LA XJ with the same lift....I was going to spend the money to buy a LA but after I saw how well mine flexed I didnt bother.

With that being said, Id go with the Rouch Country lift kit, more bang for your buck....it gave me eveything I wanted in a lift kit for less and it did great in the rocks lol

Dont know about OP but I dont like the idea of putting more stress on the sheetmetal lca mounts, not to mention drop brackets look like they would snag pretty much everything in the woods and youre still on weak stock CAs.

Well the long arm kits, the reason i like them is they are a bit more stable in the road and ride smoother, plus ground clearance, which living in WV is a big thing, especially since some of the roads i wanna go through there are some places where ground clearance is a big issue, but the long arm kits i think are better then short, but to each his own, and i also drive over 300 miles a week, the one guy i work with has a short arm kit, and it doesn't handle as well

According to two recent interviews on the podcast, no.

to each his own for sure. And I was referring to comments made recently by a very reputable builder of lifts and arms (yes, Tony on the podcast). He basically said longs weren't worth the expense unless you 3-link.

BTW 4.5" is 4.5" no matter what type of lift you have. your clearance isn't going to change. I've got RE lower arms (working on getting adj uppers) and never gotten my drop brackets hung on anything.

hey at least you're lifting it! post up before and afters

i plan to, it will be getting some kinda short lift soon for tire clearance, but itll prolly be a 2 or 3 inch, the 4.5" will be later on

it may be a while before its lifted, i gotta save up the cash, and is it true that for a SYE you can use a front XJ driveshaft

It is true. Many have done it. CV joints will set you free my brother. And this will bring you and your tribe much happy wheeling. Put ye front shaft in the back! Wooo!!!

Yes, it can be done that way

sweet, that will save me some cash, front driveshaft added to junkyard list, question, when wheeling, and turning and trying to go uphill in a standard, what would cause a clicking noise?

anyone play with these?

ok, if i get a 3" starter lift, is a slip yoke eliminator, or a transfer case drop needed? this is my daily driver, and i run 60+ mph regularly.

Tough call on a 99. Yes and no. Make sure you grease the splines on the slip yoke and go for it

sinat
05-28-2013, 11:50 AM
or atleast do the trans drop
