To me it sounds like you may have a loose connection somewhere in the abs system. Could also be some faulty wiring/bad grounds.

To get your ABS to work properly, your tone rings and sensors need to be clean and clear. I know what your going to ask next... "whats a tone ring?"

Well my friend, this is a tone ring.

That is a picture of a rear axle shaft, (just as an example - because the tone ring is clearly visible in this pic).
Basically it is the gear looking thing on the axle shaft.

Now you know what the ring looks like..... here it is on a CV and U-joint style front axle shaft.

Basically a magnetic coil rides just above the teeth on the tone ring and completes a circuit witch tells the ABS system that the tire is spinning, all is good. But if all four sensors don't see the same signal then the ABS system kicks in. If you don't have the proper tone rings, or if there is debris between the tone ring and the sensor, or if the sensor's connections are corroded, or don't have that good of a connection.... the system will think the front tires are not rotating and will kick in the system, or throw a code on.

Simple diagram of the magnetic coil pick up.
(disregard the air gap part for now)

My advice would be to look at each tone ring and sensor, clean each one VERY good, and double check the connections at each corner for the sensors. No grime, gunk, debris, corrosion, oxidation, rust, brake fluid or grease should be present on ANYTHING.
If after that you still have issues, then you may have to swap out your sensors.

My fix to my abs light was to pull the big fuses labeled (ABS) in the box under the hood. this will disable abs and kill the light

Not all jeeps came with ABS it was a option. if you upgrade the rear diff to a Chrysler unit abs is not a option
