My name's David (obviously), but most people just call me Rev. I found the site while I was researching XJs, looking for a project vehicle. Now that I have purchased the XJ I will be working on, I decided to join.

This is the XJ I just bought today, I actually only paid $800. It's definitely going to need some work, but that's why I wanted a project to begin with.

I'm an aircraft mechanic, I spend most of my time split between sitting in a hangar waiting for something to break and running out to the field when it does. I also spend a lot of time in Nevada, Arizona, Utah. I want something that will be able to handle the desert as well as long stretches of desert highway. Not a lot of lift, but some flex. Extended range fuel tank, roll bar, winch. Just a few ideas so far, still working on the details.
It needs a little body work and a paint job, a little interior work but it's not too bad. The engine is making some noise, but there's more than one way to deal with that.

Sounds like you want to make it into an overlander. Be sure to start a build thread to chronicle all your hard work.
