I tried looking up some information on it, but I couldn't figure out which bumper you have. Do you have more information on it?

The only ARB bull bar bumper I could find was a winch bumper, so I'm confused. Does the winch not fit?

the only bull bar I am familiar with is winch ready. My only observations about them is that the winch is covered up which would be a real pain in the :ass: if you get a cable pinched and cannot free spool it out. The other is that the towing points are not as strong as they should be and can be bent to the side. Cantab27 had one. Ask him about it

I believe a non-winch version was made of the ARB Bullbar for the XJ. I know the ZJ got one. I don't see why but whatever. Not ever seeing one, i can't say for sure but would assume you could cut out for the cable and control box, drill holes for the winch mounting and fairlead and add braces in the area. But again, never seen one in person. One member (firemanray) actually mounted a bigger winch up higher on his ARB (winch version), above the main bumper in from of the grille.

I have that bumper on mine. It is designed for a winch to fit "inside" of it. My winch is an old warn 10,000# and it wouldn't even come close to going in there. I modified the bumper and put it on top. You can find pivtures etc. in my build thread. I'd post a link but I'm using my goofy little i-pod and have no idea how to it. Maybe Wayne will help me out.

Winch & Non-Winch for the XJ ... I think they only do winch versions now tho - when they bother with a production run.

... and because of our furry grasshoppers ... most vehicles outside the main metro areas get a bar of some sort ... even ZJs and other shopping trolleys .. :D

The ARB is not a hardcore 4x4 bar ... Its more of a general use bar IMHO.
... and as such ... also has design constraints to abide by our, nanny state, rules and guidelines ... about pointy, scary things hanging off the front of a vehicle.

Low mount winch in the bar ... actually provides a, slightly better pull angle, providing a bit of lift - out of the mud.

... if you can find it in the mud .. ;) .. :D

I can see the benefit of higher mounts in U.S. rockhopping scenarios tho.

@ aus2xj ... If you cant fit your winch in there - mod it to suit your needs ... just ensure you have the stress and strength points sussed out.

... and try not to make it too appealing - for a vehicle inspection .. ;);)
