Anybody ever run across somebody that has bought one these units for their XJ? Most all the reviews are from JK owners.

Im interested in one due to me having a H&S mini max in my old 08 Cummins. It was neat watching all the perimeters going on.

Its alot of cash, at 550 bucks or so, but I think it would be neat.

I am now the proud owner of a 01 XJ I bought yesterday with 261K! Runs and looks great.

LP30 and D35

Came with ICONS. I put my steel Black Rock wheels on it because I have brand new Rugged Terrains on them.

Thet trail dash unit IS pretty cool....but looks like it was "intended" for the JK....as far as utilizing the most out of its features.
May I suggest something like the TORQUE (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Super-Mini-OBD2-ELM327-V1-5-Bluetooth-Car-Scanner-Android-Torque-Auto-Scan-Tool-/111003620681#vi-content) set-up....
It plugs into the OBDII port, and via bluetooth, sends real time data to your smartphone to display thru various templates virtually any data you want.....
LIKE:
Display current sensor data, including:
Engine RPM / Calculated Load Value / Coolant Temperature / Fuel System Status / Vehicle Speed / Short Term Fuel Trim / Long Term Fuel Trim / Intake Manifold Pressure / Timing Advance / Intake Air Temperature / Air Flow Rate / Absolute Throttle Position / Oxygen sensor voltages/associated short term fuel trims / Fuel Pressure / And Many others.......

Several guys here use it...and the best part?....it's only like $20!!!!

Yep. Got the free version of Torque (does all I need it to do) and I paid like $15 shipped for my ELM327 bluetooth adapter. I love that thing!

Awesome find there with the XJ... As far as the trail dash... I'd do like these guys were talking about and make use of Torque and the bluetooth dongle... That way you can move it between the truck and the XJ... and any other vehicle you might want to check more parameters on especially if you are helping someone trouble shoot... I think I'll be looking to do this and make use of my tablet every now and again...

What is this OBDII you speak of? :D

LOL... I sometimes like the OBDII over the OBDI or non OBD vehicles... it sometimes makes it easier to troubleshoot.... but for most vehicles it is harder to tune or modify OBDII vehicles... cause it all depends on what you want to do with it... LOL

OBD (on board diagnostics) was mandated by congress. It started with OBDI and then in 96 it went to OBDII which became more standard. It just means you can plug into it and it will tell you what is wrong with it

I'm having a hard time believing I an spend 20 bucks and have that. I have a iPhone. That would be neat as long as it doesn't leave a 'mark.'

Please tell me more!

Forgot to ad that the code scanner function of the Trail Dash is extremely attractive.

Yep, you can scan codes and clear them with Torque as well. I don't have an iphone, but I did come across a free ipod touch and I couldn't find Torque in the app store :( :( I thought it would be much easier to just leave the app up on my ipod instead of messing with my phone.

Torque isnt on iTunes :( for future reference. I had to buy a Android tablet to make it happen, also read books. Wife "upgraded phones" killed my iPhone 2g and I tried to make the best of the situation and I dont know how people use torque on phones. So awesum on the tablet that I dimmed the gauges out and ignore them. BTW the Nexus 7 is known (now, not when I bought it) to blow speakers easy so you should be able to get one cheap.

Believe It!!
Tony (muderroy) runs it, I will be soon, There are several guys here running them too.
I'm not sure what this "mark" is that you're speaking of.... I dont have an iphone, or any apple device, but I know this works for them...some of those screen shots are from apple devices.

With the traildash, you're paying for a name, a fancy housing, and the screen.
Torque does all the same stuff, but just thru a device you already have (phone, tablet, etc.)

It DOES work, ...check out some of the videos on youtube.
The data comes in with very little latency, and is as close to real time diagnostics as you can get.

'Mark' would be something in the ECM that the dealer could look at. Pertaining to my '12 Ram CTD under warranty. Sorry for the confusion.
