Ideas on roll cage?

So im thinking about building a roll cage around the top of my XJ. something to keep the drip rails and such off the trees when wheeling through the woods.
So far i was thinking of welding round stock along the drip rail and then weld the cross support arm over the top so i can reattatch my roof rack.
Does anyone have any ideas or pics they can throw forward?

I have seen this done, but instead of welding to the drip rails there are tubes that go through the roof and down to the floor to make it a true cage.

Yes i have seen a few with that conversion done. not really wanting to cut holes in the roof.
