Another year and a new spread sheet.

Just like the end of last year the "new post" count went up nicely though the "new thread" count dropped only slightly and the "new member" count dropped.

Again this shows that "we" are participating more in the current and new threads.

Not a bad start to the year so far, hopefully this is a sign of things to come.

In all categories we are at or near a record.
New Members: 2012 high was 87.
New Threads: 2012 high was 215 with next highest of 188.
New Posts: 2012 high was 2045 with next highest of 1993

Here were the numbers from this time last year:
Date: 1/16-1/31
Members: 56
Threads: 152
Posts: 1528

As expected the numbers in all categories are down.

Though new members and new posts counts dropped quite a bit compared to the previous 2 weeks, the new thread count did not drop as much.

We are however, well above our numbers from this time last year.
2012
New Members: 38
New Threads: 109
New Posts: 1009

New member totals went back up as expected based on last years over all graph. New posts went up slightly. The New Thread count went up nicely. Looks like we are getting a lot of new threads, but the replies may be lacking.

Wow, nice numbers this week. New members is at an all time high (including last year). New threads is very close to the all time high of 215.

Even though New members went down quite a bit, new threads stayed at the current high of 209 and new posts went up to a new all time high of 2625, blowing away the previous all time high of 2045. Not bad at all and probably the first time each category did something different.

I think this reflects what happens when we have more female members on the forum.

A bit surprised that 2 of 3 dropped to a new low. We are still higher than we were this time last year.

Well I think some of it may have to do with the time of year, people are starting to get spring fever, its tax season, and as we now enter into some nicer weather (for most of us) ...we begin to get a bit more active with our Jeeps....I think next month, or over the next quarter, we'll see some decent improvements.
And speaking of improvements.... as long as year over year we see steady growth, I call that a win in my book!

We had our best day in number of visits yesterday, 1,651. I only starting Google Analytics about mid Jan though.

Ad Revenue is down slightly, but it could be the time of year.

Thread count went up for the 2nd consecutive week, however New Members and New Post dropped with new post nearing the all time low. But as Josh has said before, as long as they are up from last year it is still a good thing.

Last years numbers:
New Members: 53
New Threads: 125
New Posts: 1113

Will be interested to see what the numbers look like for the next 4-6 weeks. This time last year we started a steady decline in New Members and New Threads.

New Members and New Threads at a new all time low.

New Posts is up a bit though.
Time of year I suppose.

It still amazes me that we get so many new members each month on a website based on a vehicle that hasn't been manufactured since 2001! Or 2000 I guess technically.

I must not have saved the spreadsheet when I did the end of July update and I got off a line the last time I posted. Sooo, I corrected the spreadsheet and added the most current data. However, Tony didn't post the data as if 8/31 so I took what he posted from 8/15-9/15 and split it in half. Not the most accurate but still not too far off.

I think it's worth mentioning that even though this looks a little depressing, we have to keep in mind that really only the posts are the critical portion of this graph.

There is a finite amount of new users. Granted it's probably in the hundred thousand range you have to figure that the majority have never even heard of XJTALK. Even after 4 years I still read "I never knew about you guys!".

Now the posts thing I don't understand. One possible issue, and I knew (and was warned), is the chat window. Not much reason to post if you can just chat in a window, right?

You guys that are daily chatters, please do your part and post. :smiley-taunt002:

So it's always great to see the new users line go up, but seeing the posts drop just means people are visiting (those numbers haven't gone down) but they are not posting.

Mudderoy
10-22-2013, 11:57 AM
For example. I signed up with Google Analytics back in mid January. Here are the visit stats from Feb 1st through yesterday.

3779

So the visits are significantly up! Get busy posting. We recently had a new member post about making (not buying) making a cover for the rear cargo area. This is great stuff! Of course just doing every day things to your Cherokee might seem like a less than stellar subject but you never know when it might be the exact thing someone was wanting to know, or spark a question. Question = post! ;)

The idea here isn't to have posts, posts are just an indication of how the membership is communicating with each other. The goal here is to have people interacting, getting information they need and even having fun. No posts means no interaction.

Just a thought but maybe so we can get some more members and visits to the site, why not sell vinyls for members' Jeeps that you just stick on the side of the Jeep like one of the "Fatheads" for the wall of your room? Doesn't have to be flashy but something eye catching just to get people's attention. If the person is a Jeep enthusiast and they see another Jeep rolling down the road with one of those stuck to the door or tailgate and they like the way the Jeep looks, maybe they'll go to the site and be like "Yeah I want my Jeep to look like that". I can try to come up with a design if need be?

You mean something difference than vinyl stickers, right? Cause we got those! :D

I spelled vinyl so bad the spelling corrector changed it to vaginal, which apparently I can spell perfectly!

I mean like labels, not the window stickers. Like for Comcast, or AT&T, or PG&E. You know? The vinyls that peel off whenever but stick as many times as you want.

I believe you're thinking about vinyl decals stuck to magnetic backing. Ran signs for years on our trucks. One flew off one day but we didn't realize it till later that day and found it ripped to shreds on the highway... So, i repurposed it and out some of my "jeeping" decals on some. So i can remove them or move them around some. Wish i had more!

Kind of but it's more static cling than magnetic. Like the Fathead NFL player decals for your interior home walls that you sometimes see on TV. Goes on clean and comes off clean.

I admit i'm not really familiar with that. I wonder if it would handling the wind at highway speed?! Anyone willing to buy one and throw it on your jeep? :D
