Whatup Whatup.... new to the forum and wanted to ask a question about an XJ i might be trading for.

I have a 2005 yamaha r6 with a blown motor.(chain broke and wrapped around the front sprocket breaking the crank case and ruining the transmission) I have a friend with a 93 2wd XJ 2dr sport with the I6. 190k with a rebuilt tranny about 30k ago.

He is going to do a straight trade, bike for XJ, just curious the input from fellow XJ owners if this is a deal you would make??

Thanks for your input and I look forward to possibly joining the XJ family

That depends on what you want the XJ for. If you are looking for a dependable station wagon, then yes. If you are looking for a wheeling rig then I would hold out for a 4WD model. They can be converted, but you have to replace the tranny, get the transfer case, front driveling, front axle and shift linkage. Cost varies by part of the country and whether or not you can access a pick and pull

Well, the xj is better for resale. And personally i just like the idea of a running driving jeep better than a bike that needs and motor and trans.

Welcome... I also have a 93 2 door Sport... but mine is a 4wd. I like the sporty look of it though with kids the 2 doors can be difficult. A big thing to check on the 2 door is the upper door hinges.
The 2 door has longer (heavier) doors and the upper hinge tends to pull away from the body. They can be rewelded, but it may not be easy/fun. Mine were already welded when I bought mine and I didn't know what to look for. My doors do not seal right because of the poor repair job.
The 2 doors have the same wheelbase as the 4 door. Also the front seats from a 4 door would not want to be swapped in place of a 2 door front seat as I believe the 4 door seats don't fold forward like the 2 door seats do.
As far as converting a vehicle to 4wd, the Jeep Cherokee is probably one of the easiest to do as the 4wd front axle bolts into place on the front end, suspension, steering, everything. The hardest part is either swapping in the 4wd transmission and transfercase or swapping out the output on the back of the transmission and bolting in the transfercase.
Welcome to the best damn XJ forum on the web.
