Hello, new to the site... my name is J.T., I'm from Roanoke, VA, and been building Jeeps for around 6yrs now, however been building cars for over 15yrs. I currently own a built 1997 XJ, am the founder of a Roanoke area 4x4 club... Star City Crawlers (aka SCC4x4), though I took our site down, to move it into a new direction, we are still a small, active group in our area. Our site merged in with another project of mine covering all spans of Offroading in Virginia and surrounding areas... Anyone who's into ATV's, Dirtbikes, 4x4s, RC Crawlers, etc... check it out @ http://www.vaoffroadsports.com/

Now back to my Jeep Roots... I last built a 95 YJ into a decent trail rig, but traded it for my XJ a year ago... YJ was on fullwidth, D44 and 9", 4" wheelbase stretch, 5.13s, 4.0L swap (was 4cyl), running 38x14.50 TSL/SX...

The XJ:

6.5" Rough Country Long Arm, w/ full rear springs
Dana 44 front from Early Bronco,4.88s, yukon spartan locker
Dana 44 rear, from Isuzu, 4.88s, yukon spartan locker, 1.25" spacers
Bushwacker Cutout Flares
Home-made front bumper, 1/4" angle, with 2" receiver hitch

I put one up in the photos section... Actually have the Jeep up for sale... It's been fun, but I've got a 79 CJ7 I want to build... Too many projects not enough time or $$

Thanks, I love doing fab... I got the CJ a few years ago for a price I couldn't pass up... The frame is shot, but with time can be repaired to new... Or I'll search for a YJ frame. Plans are full-width chevy D44, ford 9" rear... stretch the front using YJ springs, moving the hangers forward about 1.5" then redrilling center pins another 1" forward, Using XJ leaves in rear with hangers moved back about 1"... Overall should give me about 8" of stretch. Keep it low, with 38s Max...

And Bear, thanks, haven't heard from you in awhile... you should check out the revamped site... SCC is still alive (all be it barely right now, and I'm working on revitalizing it)

Welcome to the site...I'm located in Fredericksburg, and although my rig is not as off-road ready as yours seems to be, would still like to get together with some fellow Jeepers here in VA sometime! I'm running an OME 4" lift, 4.0 stock, new exhaust, Tom Woods DS and Iron Man 4x4 UCA, LCAs, TrackBar and TieRod and BDS discos...no locker(s) yet or winch...so my choice of trails is limited. Hope to get out and do some wheelin' soon...Happy New Year!
